C'mon. Obama skipping Scalia's funeral and now Nancy Reagan's funeral is an indictment about his class. He's proven to be a classless punk. FDR and Eleanor were a transformative duo who would be deserving of a sitting president to attend a funeral for either the former president himself or his first lady. Reagan and Nancy were also a duo who had a major impact on the US. Sorry, but you don't snub a funeral for someone of that stature to go to a music festival. My God, the hubris of this man is beyond the pale.

He should have attended the Scalia funeral.

I'm not sure this one is on the required list for sitting Presidents though.

A president has the right to choose not to attend a first ladies funeral. People also have the right to criticize him for not attending.

The fact that he is not going because he already has a music festival on his schedule is just tacky IMO. It would be one thing if he had a "sit down" with a foreign head of state or was supposed to be overseas to attend a summit, but this is not the case here. Moreover, as Miko noted previously, I do think one has to look at how transformative the deceased first lady was. No offense to Lady Bird Johnson, but Nancy Reagan moved the needle 1000x more than she ever did. Virtually everyone who was alive in the 80s knows who she was.

The last thing I will add is that I know a lot of liberals spoke so highly of her after she supported embryonic stem cell research. In fact Nancy Reagan offered support for Obama on executive order repealing a Bush-era policy that limited federal tax dollars for embryonic stem cell research. He should go to this ladies' funeral.

It does look tacky and I couldn't care less. People get up in arms at such little **** now. There is a long list of presidents that didn't attend 1st lady funerals and they include guys from both parties.

There is literally nothing Obama could do or not do where conservatives wouldn't get their panties in a punch. It's no win all the time. For fun I sometimes make up something he's done that is in line with more conservative leaders to my conservative friends and then they rip on it and tell me why that is another reason Obama is the worst.

You realize I don't give a **** that Reagan skipped Bess Truman's funeral, or that Bush did not attend Lady Bird Johnson's? The president's job isn't to attend funerals. There is literally nothing President Obama could do in any situation where Conservatives wouldn't go nuts. The amount of animosity people have blows my mind, but I guess you gotta make someone an enemy.

I wouldnt be upset if he was meeting with a head of state, or something along those lines... but he is going to a music festival. mofo is going to a music festival...
