RE: Time for spring Football
Looking through spring practice video and RTD notes today on W&M/UR/JMU spring practice...Gotta say I'm still stinging from Richmond's dominance of us last season and in the recent rivalry. Have lost total focus on any accomplishments the team may have next year, EXCEPT FOR ONE DAMN THING. ...BEAT THE HELL OUT OF UR for God's sake, or I may have to go into a permanent drunken stupor all next winter..

RE: Time for spring Football
In Jay's interview with Coach Laycock today, it was mentioned that Anderson had surgery and didn't participate in spring ball and that after some practices Cluley had elective surgery and won't participate this Saturday. Doesn't sound like either are too serious, but will be a chance to see who may have emerged as backup QB.

It's looks like the weather will be great, I hope the game is well attended. Mosely, McKee and Battle will be on display for sure. I wonder if any will be live (no red jersey). Can't wait to see Funderburke and Britt, but don't sleep on Dunn.

RE: Time for spring Football
Funderburke was a power on the field: strong runner with quick acceleration who doesn't go down easily.
No wonder they've been raving about him all spring. He is a horse. Behon Britt (Brendon's brother) also looked very good...great quickness and elusiveness.

Offensive line looked strong (as well as massive!), opening holes and moving defenders down the field.
Barring injuries this will be a strong group next fall.

Mosley look very good...showed strong and accurate arm as well as quickness in the backfield. Battle, outstanding this spring practice, looked very good and could be qb of the future. Quite a few dropped passes, but Jack "The All-American Boy" Armstrong was catching passes all over the field. He's quick and looks stronger and runs very good routes.

Defense was spotty although Grider and other defensive ends were able to put good pressure on our qbs all day. They had six sacks. Big Isiah looked pretty good and is very physical at nose guard, but defensive line got mauled at times by our offensive line.

Our punter looks spectacular...he had one 75 yards in the air!

RE: Time for spring Football
Man, you would think it was the week before the Richmond game, as quiet as it has been on this thread today.

We're not looking for injury reports, we would like to hear who looks faster than last fall, who looks bigger, who has a cannon for an arm, who has sticky hands (offense OR defense).

This is spring football, not the playoffs, time for some good ol' Fan Opinion... Message Board comparisons... Give it up.

04-cheers

OK, I only saw the second half, and I decided to focus on Ugokwe. Not much to report there. He seemed to be playing at half speed, especially when the play went the other way. But the guy beside him, Nathan Mconnell, kept grabbing my attention by flattening somebody. Really impressed with his motor and aggressiveness.

RE: Time for spring Football
For a spring game it was pretty good. The running game looked good. The three backs (Britt, Dunn and Funderburke) looked good, with Funderburke standing out the most.

The oline looks good and escaped with out injury.

Mosley had patience in the pocket and through the ball well. Battle and McKee did a nice job as well.

It's hard to tell how the receivers did with Armstrong being the only one with any experience. Armstrong made a great move for the TD and on the last drive to set up the FG. Kinder will get some reps next fall, he made a couple nice catches. Missing Hart, Kuzjak and Dedmon today.

Defensively Gryder had a solid game, Rae Smith had a couple breakups and looked good. Dulaney also had a nice day, along with Harvey. Harvey could be a beast next year.

The punter is the star of the team.
