He also was critical of Nik for not playing D. My view is a coach should criticize players privately.
When did we all become so thin skin. I clearly have a different take on JJ’s comments. The coach was asked to share his observations about how the game played out and how the players reacted and preformed. WOW, I am sure these young men have heard it all before. Is it not the goal and intention for the coach to direct and critique players so they will get better and play up to their potential? None of us live in a bubble, these young men have and will be exposed to many events, comments, observations, criticisms in every aspect of life while they live, grow and eventually proceed through many stages as they grow older. I honestly cannot see how the coach’s remarks during the radio interview warrants any concern.
Everyone's a softy nowadays. Its sad. Worried about someones feelings getting hurt, this, that, and the other. Grow up and learn to take it in stride. Some teams/players learn to use that as motivation while others crawl into dark holes and shrivel. One regular season game left to see how "HE" responds. I'm not expecting much...
I am certainly not worried about hurting someone's feelings, but i do not think calling players out to the media is a productive way for coaches to build chemistry. This was more of a borderline case so i don't think it is that big of a deal, but i would prefer teams Kerri things in house. From watching Aaron's demeanor, I imagine there is some criticism he would like to share as well. How would you feel if he dumped on the coaches in a post game interview?

I don't think it is that big of a deal. Players know when they play well and when they don't. It's another thing when the coach is constantly throwing players under the bus... I think Blaine went a little overboard with that, but this was nothing and I'm usually a JJ critic. JJ usually sings Nik's praises probably more than he deserves.

I will guess the singing of Nik's praises is because he knows, and we all know, that he is getting about every drop of ability out of Nik. I don't think the same can be said about Aaron. Separating basketball from life, Aaron seems like a great kid and has represented the school and community very well. I just don't see that he has that desire to be the very best (competitive drive). Not everyone is wired that way.
He has 1 maybe two or three collegiate games left in his career. I hope he realizes it and leaves it all on the court. Sucks to have regrets in life.
