Apparently to cover up being drunk and vandalizing a gas station. Lochte's little white lie mushroomed into an embarrassment and career killer. The dude sure knew how to get out of Dodge before poop hit the fan.

Yep. He was also faster leaving Rio than he was swimming against Michael. His other three compadres weren't so lucky.

We won't ever know the truth about that incident. Lochte had his bs story, and the Brazilian police forced the other guys to agree to a different bs story as a condition of being allowed to leave Brazil.

A good guess is that the guys caused some damage at the gas station and the security guards implemented some "rough justice" by pulling out their guns and forcing the guys to hand over the cash they had on them, allegedly in the name of paying for the damage.

Americans get obsessed with the most pointless news possible. At least it's not the Kardashians this time.
