RE: Looks like Idaho and NMSU...
I would like a trip to Liberty, but our silly AD prefers to play at Yale.

RE: Looks like Idaho and NMSU...
The reason why we can't move up to FBS INdy is because the big boys are scared that more Louisiana-Monroes & Florida Atlantics will try and make the jump. That's why I believe there will be a very narrow window to let us in with not many others. They could use the attendance marks that no one enforces as a nice barrier that would narrow the list down to a half dozen schools and ask that only schools currently carrying enough sports to meet FBS minimum be allowed up as well. That would whittle down the number even further. Just thinking out loud.
And yes, a series with Army would be epic from our perspective.

RE: Looks like Idaho and NMSU...
1) If a school wishes to move up, and has the capability, they should be allowed to. The two schools you mentioned, FAU and La Monroe, both have had competitive football teams in the past. They haven't been competitive always, but there is a natural ebb and flow in football programs. I believe both have made bowl appearances. Even Idaho, who has been shunned by the Sun Belt, has had winning seasons and at least one bowl appearance. I say let them move up if they have the desire and means.
2) I would love for Liberty to get a home/home with Army. I have always heard that an early autumn game at the Academy is a sight everyone should see at some point. And I know how great the game day atmosphere on the Liberty campus is and how welcoming our fans are to opponents fans.
3) If FCS teams were allowed to make the move to FBS in three seasons, I'd say there would be at least ten teams to make the jump. I think a good number of the western schools would surprise and make a move up. I don't think there are any eastern schools that would make the move, but who knows. I think some more southeastern and southwestern schools would jump at the chance. I imagine a few Midwest teams could make the jump as well. Once some schools see others making the move, they will also, knowing they will have home game opportunities through the independent ranks.
