RE: Hot dogs
They always do that. Announce to the whole crowd they're throwing something into the stands (hotdog, T-shirt, whatever), and then one tiny section of people are the only ones that have any chance of getting anything.

And now we have discovered the reason for the hot dog shortage at NIU sporting events. Athletics simply wants us to live a more healthy and longer life so we have more years on Earth to donate money to the HAF.

I got a free hot dog from that. The guy throwing them out was already in the stands tossing them out. Helped I was one of like 10 people on the east side.

03-lmfao Congratulations...you certainly earned it!

I know for a fact I was at some sporting event and they threw hot dogs into the stands, got one. Also had a hot dog cannon. I guess it was NIU then?

Dog Fan, you have been complaining about this for decades. If you had eaten all the hot dogs you wanted, you would be dead by now. NIU saved your life

We give away tons of free hotdogs before every game to anyone that comes to the outdoor pavillion next to the Glass Bowl.

Well, I guess we can blame NIU for me still being alive! I need to blame them for something. Maybe I can blame them for all the pizza and nachos I have had to replace the hot dogs with and the resultant indigestion, intestinal gas, and extra weight - not that the hot dogs would be much better.

The Rockets give out free hot dogs? I think that is also called fine dining in Toledo.

All kidding aside, I have been to CMU, , Ball State, NIU and Bowling Green. The Glass Bowl has the largest tailgate including the large alumni club sponsored one, the largest crowds and the best overall game experience by far. Did I mention we have 75 luxury suites that are always full? Its actually kind of sad, but when I have visited some of those other stadiums the fan attendance was poor and some of them felt like large high school stadiums to me. I am going to give credit where credit is due, UT has been doing a good job on game days for a very long time. NIU has a lot of work to do and you guys know it.

Not me. Even for free hot dogs. Toledo would be the last place where I’d live. I’d rather live in East St. Louis, IL.

All kidding aside, do you also hand out scholarship offers with those free hot dogs? Been wondering how Toledo manages to lead the conference in offers every year.

The University of Toledo is surrounded by some of the better neighborhoods in the city including Old Orchard and Ottawa Hills. I lived in Old Orchard and had a lot of great neighbors. Ottawa Hills is one of the most expensive zip codes in Ohio. Yes, Toledo has some tougher neighborhoods but compared to NIU our students arent mixed in with them because they have no choice. NIU & its students are surrounded by a lot of section eight housing and it has really hurt NIU. Greek Row is about dead because of it. NIU and DeKalb have failed in a lot of ways. DeKalb used to be a really great small town but its not the same anymore. And you cant even count on a hot dog at the game. Pretty pitiful!

I’d rather live in a slum without running water than living in Toledo.

Wait, wait... Free hot dogs, the Glass Bowl experience and now Ottawa Hills which is the most expensive zip code in all of Ohio??? What have I been doing with my whole life??? I should have grown up in Toledo and my life would have been a royal dream!
If you tell me something more remarkable like that you are extremely close to Bowling Green, I'll think living in Toledo is like being in Nirvana!

And there was a place like that this weekend in Lyons.
