RE: Towson
Gonna just say it like this Solo...Towson has to pay. End of story. Hawks have come too far to get punked at home by a tough bunch of guys from Towson. Somebody has to freaking pay for Thursday night, I'm sorry, but that's the truth. The sad thing is that there may be body bags needed, maybe for our Hawks, but I've never seen a better example of a situation where a team needed to reach down deep and get things done than this. Towson is a tough team. UNCW, if they want to reach their eventual goal, a goal that I doubted earlier in the year of playing in the Big Dance, has to come out loose and just play ball. Play UNCW ball is what I say and if that's a quick 3, so be it. Play the kind of ball they did in the Bahamas. They need to dive for loose balls, play 12 guys, just play fast, loose and hard. That's the only way for this team...I'm now sold on that.

Hit the Driver and don't lay up. Play to WIN the rest of the way! And, never doubt yourselves ever. I'm done now....And Go Hawks!!!04-rock

Agreed Bill. Sadly, even winning today likely puts us in 2nd place due to tie breakers and Hofstra getting CoC. Regardless though, they need to come out swinging for 40 minutes this time.

The same thing that killed us in the WM game is what got us against Hofstra. Up good points and tried to run the clock. We got burned on that and hopefully learned our lesson. Grab this win and get ready for the tournament.

RE: Towson
The Hawks' are limping down the stretch with a bad loss to the Tribe, an overtime win against CoC and a loss to Hofstra. We need a win to right the ship, otherwise we hit the tournament having gone 1-3, with the only win being in overtime.

The first loss was one of our worst defeats of the year. We only put up 60 points, and lost by 16. We shot 32.8% for the game, and only 22.7% from 3. Towson had 36 ft attempts and made 29, while we made 15 of 19. Another 14 point deficit we had to make up and couldn't.

We were outrebounded 43-25, with most of their rebounds on the defensive end, which limited our second chance points.

Something needs to change. UNCW has beat up on the bottom half of the conference, but struggled with the contenders with the exception of JMU. It's great we split with the Tribe and Hofstra, but if we want to win the tournament we can't keep putting ourselves in situations where it comes down to the last possession. I'm going to beat this dead horse again, but we need to neutralize the ability of Towson to get us in foul trouble with the drive, and go zone. Let's make some of these teams prove they can score on us from outside. The teams that rely on 3 pointers we have beaten, the teams that drive and kick to 3 point shooters we struggle with.

IMO this is a must win, or we'll have a brief stay in Baltimore and the NCAA's and NIT will once again have slipped through our fingers when we had full control of our destiny and let it go.

RE: Towson
In the words of Aaron Rodgers, R E L A X. This is a good conference, if you guys thought we were going to go 18-0, you don't watch enough college basketball. Does Thursday night sting, hell yeah it stings! Is it time for a drastic change with 5 games left? No. When your strengths are your depth and athleticism, you do not play zone. When you press, you do not play zone. We had a chance to win Thursday, and it escaped us. We won a road game against a great defense at COC, OT or not. And we lost on the road to last year's regular season champ. I cannot remember a time when 3-4 teams had RPIs in the 60-70 range. I agree about not letting off the gas having maybe cost us once or twice, but that's sports. Beat Towson!

Obviously need a W but it certainly sucks to no longer control your own destiny. The most important thing to me is to play well today and take some momentum into Baltimore

RE: Towson
Gutsy win today, when Towson pulled ahead with less than ten left I had my doubts, but the guys push the momentum back in their favor. Congrats on another first place finish, very difficult to do back to back.

Keatts has shown he absolutely has what it takes to turn the program around and sustain the success. No matter how the Hofstra game works out we have A LOT to be proud of. UNCW is back and a force to be reckoned with.

Go Seahawks!!!!!

I don't get it. The box score has Gettys with no blocks. He had two in one play.

RE: Towson
A few observations.

The crowd was really incredible today. They were fired up the whole game, made noise at every FT, and were standing up and yelling for most of the game.

Flemmings looked much better than he has the past few games.

The refs SUCKED. I usually don't comment about refs, but these guys were clueless. On a break away layup, with only Ingram and a defender by themselves, three refs had to go to the monitor because somehow all three missed seeing the Towson player reach forward and simply grab Ingram with an intentional foul. They also called countless traveling Flemmings and especially Bryce when they made a move to the basket. Horrible.

Bryan gave us the toughness in the post that we needed to hang with a very physical Towson team. I think he inspired Sherwood who also played very tough. Although we lost to Hofstra, winning this game showed a heart and toughness we'll need to get through Baltimore. We also fought hard for rebounds, and only had a slight deficit on the boards. Good sign heading to the tournament.

We had 8 traveling calls. Entire leagues can go a whole season without 8 traveling calls. 2 games in row we have had a mickey mouse crew who didn't know what they were doing
