Possible CAA tournament seeding
Hofstra and NE both win. The Pride get the #1 seed. UNCW #2 and Towson #3.

All potential quarterfinal games look to be good ones. Towson/Northeastern, UNCW and (possibly) CofC, and of course ours.

Tough road ahead. One game at a time.

Good news is Sheldon is playing the best bball of his career. We have the pieces, we just have to put it all together next weekend which is a tall task.

So, one scenario is that Drexel gets hot for two games ... wouldn't that be a change in fortunes!!

Tribe goes 2-6 against the top 4 seeds and 9-1 against the bottom 5.

Almost a complete reversal of last year's conference results.

PAIRINGS SET FOR 2016 CAA MEN’S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

RICHMOND, Va. (February 27, 2016) – The pairings are set for the 2016 CAA Men’s Basketball Championship after a very competitive regular-season race, which included a tie for the regular-season title and a three-way tie for third place. The four-day tournament will be held March 4-7 at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Md.

First-round action opens on Friday as eighth-seeded Elon (16-15, 7-11 in CAA) faces #9 Drexel (5-24, 3-15 in CAA) at 6 p.m., followed by #7 College of Charleston (16-13, 8-10 in CAA) against #10 Delaware (7-22, 2-16 in CAA) at 8:30 p.m. Both games will streamed online by CAA.TV.

The CAA quarterfinals tip off at Noon on Saturday with the Elon/Drexel winner facing top-seeded Hofstra (22-8, 14-4 in CAA). At 2:30 p.m., #4 James Madison (21-10, 11-7 in CAA) takes on #5 William & Mary (19-10, 11-7 in CAA). The evening session features second-seeded UNCW (22-7, 14-4 in CAA) meeting the CofC/Delaware winner at 6 p.m., and #3 Towson (20-11, 11-7 in CAA) challenging #6 Northeastern (17-14, 9-9 in CAA) at 8:30 p.m. All four contests will be televised by the Comcast SportsNet family of networks as well as several other regional outlets.

The semifinal games of the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship are set for 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, with the two winners facing off for the conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 7. The semifinals and championship game will be televised nationally on the NBC Sports Network.

Tickets are available at the box office of your favorite CAA school or Royal Farms Arena, by calling TicketMaster at 800-745-3000 or visiting Ticketmaster.com on the web.

Notes:

Hofstra won a share of the CAA men’s basketball regular-season title for the first time, while UNCW claimed a share of the regular-season crown for the second year in a row. The two teams split their head-to-head matchups, but the Pride earned the #1 seed based on having a better record than the Seahawks against #6 Northeastern.

Towson earned the #3 seed based on its 3-1 head-to-head record against JMU and W&M. The Dukes were 2-2 and received the #4 seed and the Tribe was 1-3 and got the #5 seed.

Here's an actual bracket, since the CAA is just using a table

RE: Possible CAA tournament seeding
This team has so much potential that they have readily displayed for periods this year, and on occasion, for close to 40 minute games. They have struggled to consistently play up to that different gear, since the blow-out at Hofstra, for whatever reason or combination of reasons.

I don't personally care as much about the holy grail of being the team that finally gets to the big dance, as much as, seeing these guys play to their potential in their remaining game or games this season, win or lose. Last chance for Terry and Sean to have "fun" playing college ball, and experiencing what it feels like to play their best as a team, and leave it all out there with their "brothers" on both ends of the court.

I know that if they can do that, they are one dangerous team. Go Tribe!

My tournament predictions: http://csnbbs.com/thread-772137.html

I understand Daniel Dixon is hurt currently, but until more information is available, note that that did not factor in to my analysis.

As a Tribe Fan I appreciate your optimism but this team needs to find itself. With some of the post game comments after the JMU game has me wondering if everyone is on the same page. For any team to make the strong run needed to win the tourney it hit must be hitting on all cylinders .

JMU has statistically the best D in the CAA. Give them some credit for making our offense work hard for good shots and having us out of sync at times.

That said, if we shoot our season average from 3 in the second half we win the game. Instead we go 0-10.

Hopefully a week of prep/rest and a healthy roster make the difference.

As for SN08's prediction, I appreciate the vote of confidence, but I'll need to see us come out and play against JMU like we were playing during the middle of the season before I get my hopes up for a 3rd straight final appearance. We have to shoot at a decent clip from 3 and we need Dixon to be on his game for that. Go Tribe!
