RE: Marshall fans reaction:
I do believe UAB is the most talented in C-USA, but Marshall definitely plays the most interesting brand of basketball in the conference. The ball movement is so crisp and tempo threes are a staple, but they ultimately got bogged down since poor defense lead to a lot of those fouls. The free throws really slowed the game down, and that really hurt their pace. I'm looking forward to seeing how they develop in the future.

I think the officials didn't have a good night, either. I know what they do is tough so I hate to nitpick, but I was surprised by a lot of the calls (and no calls) on both teams. Then again, I have been more critical since the game at Marshall.

Marshall has a gritty team and they definitely came to play tonight

Enjoyed watching this game in person.
Wish Marshall could have come together earlier this year and beaten JMU, Grand Canyon, WVA among others.
What has happened to Austin Loop?
Really in his head now. Body language was an 0fer too!

If I was looking at the fouls called in the first half alone, I would have thought Marshall was the home team. Officiating was bad for sure but it almost exclusively benefited Marshall this game.

Their drives to the basket in the paint looked like a fullback hitting the line. They picked up the ball, totted it with both hands, taking multiple steps before throwing up into the air hoping it would draw a shooting foul. They got at least 6 points with this routine. Refs just couldn't see in the crowd and assumed a shooting foul I guess. I just don't get why they wouldn't call the over the back fouls by the Herd guys under the boards on rebounds.

That was seven in a row over Marshall. I like their program and think they have a great team that will contend next season but they need to just hush the bitching. Not directed at the nice Marshall fans that post over here.

I think the Marshall complaints about the referees would probably be received differently if they didn't refuse to acknowledge they were the beneficiary of missed calls too.

The officiating in the first half was stupid. They called nothing. It was bad for both teams. Then the refs compounded the stupidity by completely reversing course in the second half calling everything.

For the love, someone please explain to me how #33 didn't travel at least 5+ times. He was never whistled for a single traveling call.

I think the guys in the stripes and the Marshall bench were the only ones that seemed to be oblivious to the blatant travels.

Pretty much. We do the same thing and if anyone says otherwise I'll go dig up that WKU game thread.
