I agree. I cringe thinking of how it will go.

Hi Keith,
I've heard you say that on GP's show. And on here. And that he likes to golf. And, I guess that means he won't work hard? I'm not sure.

I'm not saying he should be the new coach. But can you give us more of your thoughts why he should not be the coach? If it's just because his legacy could be hurt, isn't that something that should be up to him?

Even L Finch's era ended sour.
It was not until several years after his firing that he and his family started to feel the Tiger love again.
There is a risk of that happening to Penny.

Most proven head coaches came up through the ranks

Honed their craft

Understand being organized and on time

Understand how to lay out a recruiting plan

Where to be , who to watch

Media

Boosters

Fans

The office

He ain't ready for all that it entails

Not my call

Just my thoughts

His AAU team don't even ge the best in Memphis

No college coach thinks it's a good idea

Interesting. He did lead an AAU team to the equivalent of the AAU national championship game (Peach Jam). And his East team got to #1 in the state.

If we don't go the Penny route, do you favor more the young, relatively unknown coach (Forbes, Underwood . . . ) or the veteran coach who has run big programs (Buzz, Pearl).

Maybe he could be an assistant for the next coach. Learn those ropes. But please not the head coach

I coached the only Memphis team to a Nike Memorial Day championship

National championships

I'm not qualified to be the Memphis coach

RE: Say no go Penny
If someone could point to ANY big-time NBA player to went to college BB with ZERO HC OR Assistant Coach experience in EITHER the NBA or College hoops and succeeded, please let me know. Clyde Drexler was a dumpster fire at Houston. He had no clue about the effort/preparation/hours/execution/management style needed to be a head coach.

I love Penny and love his attitude towards us. However, Tiger BB was big before and after Penny and hopefully will remain so. We are not in the position to take such an enormous gamble.

Thanks Keith. I have no dog in the hunt other than wanting to get our program back to where it can be.

Remember driving to San Antonio and Houston in back-to-back years for the Ohio State and Kansas games with my then 7/8 year old son. Now, at 16, he could care less about the Tigers. Really sad.

Forbes would kill it here. Coached with Billy G, Pearl and Marshall. Could recruit Atlanta very well. Tough SOB. Could put together a big time staff. Make it happen!

Go Tigers!

If Josh could teach guys how to be under control, not turn it over, block out, move their feet on defense etc. I'd be in. Pretty poor stuff.........And why you have D. Lawson getting the ball outside of 15 feet is beyond me. What is the record for turnovers by a Tiger freshman or anybody in a season?
