Lol...sounds about right.... But you're right...this team has turned into one of the smartest basketball teams Marshall has seen in years... Question is, is it enough? We'll see... Our help defense has been suspect all year in my mind

Any fan paying attention knows that UAB is and has been the class of CUSA 3.0 along w/ LaTech. MU and its fans are just honored to be finally being in the conversation. I don't see many ways that MU can win in Birmingham, and a win following at MTSU would be tough as hell too. I just hope that UAB v. MU is competitive and that the Dragons don't run us out of Alabama. You guys, especially after the beatdown of MTSU, are gelling at the right time and look to be a sweet 16 team to me if something drastic doesn't happen. A great team. GL Blazers, although I seriously doubt you'll need it, especially at home.

Marshall is very capable of beating UAB Thursday Night. However, if the same UAB team that played last Sunday shows up, it will be an uphill battle for the Herd. Looking forward to the game.

Agreed. But the good news is we don't need to beat you. We just need to beat Tech and USM to lock in the second or third seed. That way if we do well in the tournament we don't face you in Birmingham till the finals and you have to beat us a third time, should the chips fall that direction. Not easy to beat someone 3 times in a season.

If we finish anywhere in the Top 4 it will still blow away any finish I would of predicted for this year and I will be overjoyed with that. Hell even if we finish in the Top 6 LOL

I said that we'd finish better than predicted (12th, I think), but I wasn't expecting ANYTHING like this.

Me too. I figured anywhere in the middle. I figured if we finished 7th right in the middle that would be a great year!04-rock

The biggest surprise to me about Marshall is their ability to sustain success at the 3pt line. Not saying that's all the offense Marshall has but it is certainly a big part of things. Typically teams that live by the 3, die by the 3. And thus far, Marshall's heavy reliance on 3s has not cost them. Very solid 3pt shooting team but that was not something I expected at all.

Well when a team lines up to do drill before the game 30 feet out (as a team not just guards) and they drill those shots for a good 5 minutes on both sides of the court...

you have some damn good shooters

But Marshall isn't just a 3 point shooting team because Kelly is just as hard to guard as those players lining up 25-30 feet out. He is almost unstoppable off the dribble in the paint because he has great control on the 5 to 6 foot shot.

Freeman will get POY but honestly it should go to Kelly or at least MVP (if CUSA has one)

Conference tourneys usually brings out the choke in some teams...that played great for most of the season. Could happen to this Marshall team but if I was doing a picking order I would list choking/tight

muts
UAB

Marshall

Those Marshall kids look like they are having fun out there on the court with no pressure at all on them. And the old guy on the sideline trying to pull off the Don Johnson look does also. I'm sure he's teaching but he lets his kids play...the game

James Kelly and Ryan Taylor's ability to score in the paint is why they get so many good looks from behind the arc.
