4 players scored in double digits, but couldn’t stop the 49ers thanks to strong FT shooting in the 4th quarter (12-for-15).

Romero is a local product from Kecoughtan HS (Hampton, VA) It’s a team where everyone on the floor can shoot the three. 38% of the team’s total shots are behind the arc . Half of Gore’s shots are for threes. Fraley shots nothing but threes. (in conference play, only one shot has been inside the arc) Hamilton and Romero are strong offensive board rebounders. Scott is the leader of the team. She had 18 points and 8 boards when she played against ODU.

All in all, it’s not a bad team. But they are beatable. ODU lost by 18 on the road when we played Marshall. So I am glad that we get to play them again at the Ted. I want revenge.

Looking at the standings, you will understand how BIG this game is.
1. UTEP 13-1
2. WKU 11-2
3. Middle Tenn St 11-2
4. Charlotte 8-5
5. La Tech 8-5
6. ODU 7-6
7. Marshall 6-7
8. UAB 6-7

If we lose today, Marshall would take the six seed due to a 2-0 conference record over us. So this will be a key game for the LM. We want the bye. We are still in control of our destiny.

WBB Game 26 vs (We Are) Marshall
A few weeks back it was Jennie Simms saying the girls weren't that close off of the court. Today it is Patterson saying they had a "good" loss this week against WKU because they played hard. What in the world is wrong with our women's team?

Wood Selig, are you ok with this?

RE: WBB Game 26 vs (We Are) Marshall
What a turnaround in the second half! ODU outscored Marshall 47-21. Simms scored 19 of her 22 points in the second half. The team was playing aggressive and drawing fouls. The LM shot 14-for-19 from the FT line in the second half, compared to Marshal's 1-for-2. That and the rebounding edge. In the second half, ODU had 23 boards (7 off boards) to Marshall's 12 boards (3 off boards) That explains why ODU had 15 second chance points to the Herd's two.

Exciting to watch Kemp's stellar play on defense. It's a much needed boost of energy off the bench. She is the cousin of former NBA star Shawn Kemp. Maybe he will show up to a game one day.

Disappointing game for the students since they were three points away from getting free chicken. ;-)

However. Right now the main concern has to be the injury to Ije Ajemba. That would be a key lose that would hurt our team. She is currently the number five rebounder in the conference. But she does so much more for our team.

UTEP leads the conference in offesnive rebounding. ODU is number two. Without Ajemba, we will have a big challenge when we play them this week.

RE: WBB Game 26 vs (We Are) Marshall
I ditto the comments on Ije Ajemba. Little did I expect this level of performance from her. She has improved dramatically from where her game was last year. She also seem to be making jump shots rather consistently, at least from what I saw in the game against Marshall yesterday. Can't help but opine that Odegua Oigbokie's absence this year really created the opportunity Ije needed to blossom. Along with everyone else that will be coming back, can't wait to see both of them, on the floor together, next season!
