Yeah, the "Red Wedding" was greatly anticipated by us book readers. They did it well. Not really happy with how they changed Sam Tarley's storyline. Looks like they're writing out "Coldhands" character. Next season will be just as fun.

Agreed,

The Red Wedding was handled well and very much in sprit of the books. Its been a while since I read them, but how is Sam's story so different? I remember him using the Dragon Glass on the walker, but I thought that was actually out in the field with the Nights Watch. I have to re-read it to catch up.

Hopefully next week Joffrey's wedding happens. :)

No, they'll keep that for next season. Sam used the dragon glass while on the fist with the other crows. After the Craster mutinee, he and Gilly ran, but were eventually found by whites, not white walkers. They were surrounded, and pretty much doomed, but Coldhands shows up on the giant elk to save them. Guess they couldn't afford the CGI for that.

RE: OT: Game of Thrones - Potential Spoilers
I thought the tweaks to the RW were good and fitting with the story as it has developed on TV.

There were also some great fight scenes overlooked in the devastation of the RW.

The 3 on a hundred fight with Daario, Mormount, and Gray Worm (with each using a different fighting style) was cool and so was the John Snow/Wilder fight where Shaggydog and Summer tore out some throats.

Didn't take long for this season's first ba to be revealed...only took finding her "Needle" and proving she had no problem using it.

RE: OT: Game of Thrones - Potential Spoilers
I'd say the show is good enough to warrant subscribing to HBO. And that says a lot since 95% of the time it's all crap you've already seen or don't want to. Even Boardwalk Empire was slow this last season.

Following the books was/is pure agony for the readers in terms of release schedules. The series was supposed to be four books. The fourth book was split to five. Once he started the fifth he decided to add six and seven. The span between each release has gone up exponentially. Every time he releases a different series book or another compilation I want to throttle him for not staying devoted to Ice and Fire.

I swore I'd never read another series in progress after suffering the same BS in The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, which had the shittiest ending of 20 years of waiting for it. I usually only read fantasy series that are completed, anymore. Works out much better. Too many open-ended stories I believe are the cause of strokes and Alzheimer's. I had to read A Feast for Crows twice it was so long between it and A Dance with Dragons and there are some really loooooong, sloooooooow parts to that book.

After I finished Dance the first time I looked online for a chronology of chapters between it and Feast. Found a pretty good listing and I started reading both books at the same time based on the chronological listing I found. Weird since Martin didn't write but the first few chapters of Dance with Feast, but the story flowed much better reading it that way.

RE: OT: Game of Thrones - Potential Spoilers
I reread books 3, 4, and 5, but the second time by character, not sequentially. I retained more and retained interest. I read the preview chapters released for Winds of Winter, including the one released recently. Good stuff too.

I've also read a couple of his novellas, The Hedge Knight, and The Princess and The Queen, from Dangerous Women. Both were good reads, with the latter being exceptional. The Princess and The Queen tells what happened to all of the dragons.

I thought last night's episode was pretty good. They're trying to stay true to the books, which is almost impossible considering the budget restraints. I can only hope the wildling attack at the wall is done well enough.

SPOILER ALERT! Just wait until Arya Stark becomes an assassin and goes after Walder Frey. I think Jon Snow gets Bolton. Either way, a Stark will handle Frey. After all, he made plenty of enemies after the Red Wedding.

This is a great idea. I need to re-read books 4 & 5 chronologically.

TV SHOW SPOILER ALERT

I thought they did a great job last night of showing her starting down that path. The last scene with her and the hound was very cool and showed how cool she is now in those types of situations.

I don't think Arya is going to have such a happy ending. She might become a badass, but she's going to be a batsh!t crazy one. If you read the chapter of hers he leaked from the next book, you get the feeling that she's becoming a full blown sociopath.
