RE: History of W&M Mascots
Loved the article. I'm a Griffin fan, and have been calling him "Griff" since he was born.

My favorite EBIRT story is from a game at Delaware when the Hens had several versions of YouDee including a 12' mechanical one operated by someone inside. Prior to kickoff, the mechanical YouDee snuck up on EBIRT from behind and started pecking him on the head. The thing turned and headed for the Delaware sideline. EBIRT was startled, but recovered quickly and ran to pursue mechanical YouDee. When he caught up he executed a perfect cross-body block on its legs and the whole contraption came crashing down. It took several minutes for security and Delaware cheerleaders to get it back upright. I was an EBIRT fan from then on.
