Ohio way too quick. UT has a lot of slow players, and the talent level isn't there.

St. Fort and Boyd are very quick but notnthatbskilled. Others are skilled but not quick. Then..... Well, just glad this is over.

RE: WBB: Ohio at Toledo game thread
As has been noted Ohio was way too quick for the Rockets on offense and particularly on defense as well as often getting to rebounds.
On offense Ohio moved the ball quickly with drives toward the basket with quick passes back out and around the horn----quick successive passes----whereas Toledo often just stood around holding to ball while looking to make a pass and even got one 5 second call for doing so. Still the Rockets kept the score close for the first 5 or 6 minutes of the game before they seemed to get a bit frustrated on offense and lost their composure a bit allowing Ohio to build up an 18 point lead at the half. The second half was essentially a draw with Ohio ultimately winning by 20 points but in the third quarter when UT made a bit of a run and cut the lead down to 14, Ohio stepped up their defense a bit and again UT temporarily lost a bit of composure and by the time they regained it, the Ohio lead was around 20 where it more or less remained for the rest of the game.
The few times UT was actually able to get the ball inside to Kaayla McIntyre, good things happened more often than not but the Ohio defense prevented very much of any inside UT game. Ohio always lives by the three and their shooters especially Black (#4) can catch and shoot in an instant so combined with the quick, crisp passing Ohio got a lots of threes whereas their defense was such that UT only got a very few threes off; particularly after the first 5 minutes of the game.
It is not without a reason that Ohio is leading the MAC, is the defending conference champ and is generally favored for a second straight NCAA trip----they are simply the best team in the MAC again this year.
The second half of the MAC season is going to be a lot tougher for Toledo than the first half because UT has already played most of the weaker MAC teams. With the loss to Ohio today, UT stands 2-1 for the second half of the MAC at present but the 6 remaining games include 2 with CMU and 1 with Ball State, both ahead of UT in the standings as well NIU, rival BG and EMU who defeated the Rockets earlier in the season. After going 6-3 in the first half of the season the Rockets will be fortunate to also go 6-3 for the second half of the season as well but, barring any catastrophe, they should have no problem qualifying for a home game in the first round, should they fail to finish in the top four and get an automatic pass to Cleveland.

RE: WBB: Ohio at Toledo game thread
If by chance the Rockets cross paths again with Ohio in the Tournament, I hope Cullop will put Boyd on Black one-on-one from the tip off regardless of whether the rest of the team plays man-to-man or zone. Of course Ohio has a lot of players who can shoot threes but Black's 38 points was just a bit over the top for my liking.
