Us not being ranked is not really a surprise. The top 2 teams in the SEC standings, not being ranked is surprising-
South Carolina coach Frank Martin said he was frustrated that, in a contest between the first- and second-place teams in a Power Five conference, neither club was ranked in the Top 25. ''That's the frustrating part, how either one of these two teams is ranked nationally. It makes no sense,'' Martin said.

Outside of Kentucky, and sometimes Florida, the SEC certainly has been a "Power 5" conference in name only in basketball the last few years. The two leading SEC teams must have missed the clear memo from the NCAA that teams need to play tough competition outside of their conference, especially "Power 5" teams because they have pretty much complete control over deciding just how tough they want their OOC schedule to be.
