Oh they can get to Atlanta.

Texas Christian beat them down 42.3 in last year's Peach Bowl.

The person said Tuesday that 13 allegations involve the football program, and nine of those occurred during current coach Hugh Freeze's tenure.

I hate to say i told yall so......wait....no i dont.

the 6-foot-1, 202-pounder also addressed whether current NCAA charges of rule violations against Ole Miss have clouded his view. They have not. "I talked to Coach Freeze about [potential violations]," Anderson said, adding that "he said it was about things that had happened in the past before he got to Ole Miss. I knew he would be honest with me. When I first heard it, it didn’t shake me up."

I don't recall your past posts on the subject - what led you to believe, just asking here, that these allegations were unfounded?

I never thought they were unfounded. Tunsil obviously got benefits. It was proven & that kind of thing happens everywhere with players like Tunsil. My argument was never that he didnt get benefits, it was that it wasn't anything new - he was investigated, suspended, and the case was closed on that, in regards to any MAJOR ramifications.

If additional major punishment comes from the Tunsil situation (more than a few lost schollies and recruiting restrictions) then that would be a surprise to me. Not saying that wont happen...the new report sounds like it could...but that would just be a surprise based on what everyone, not just "ole miss media" thought (or was told).

Now, the other football violations...if those are also major, then someome flat out lied. I mean, someone already did lie IF all this new info is true (if violations are mostly FB/Freeze related) but if they are all minor, self reported violations...those were expected.

The key is, ARE THE NEW MAJOR VIOLATIONS 'SURPRISES'. I was under the impression they were not, and if they are...Ill eat crow and never mention OM here again.

They already flat-out lied. Last week they were saying NONE of the allegations in football involved the Freezus regime.

OF COURSE THEY HAVE LIED.

I appreciate the kind words.

That's probably getting a little carried away, given what we know today. Something pretty shocking would have to come out for that to happen.

According to the new AP report, 13 of the 28 violations were related to football, 9 of those were under Freeze's watch. The real question is...how many of those 9 are major violations? If the Tunsil situation - based on the info that is already public - is the only major violation during Freeze's tenure, while the rest are self reported minor violations, then no...I dont expect much. That seems to still be the stance of those close to the situation, but those peoplr are becoming harder to believe IMO.

"Ole Miss source speaking on the condition of anonymity said most of the allegations are tied to NCAA probes into the Rebels' women's basketball program and the track and field program. A "very minimal number" of allegations are tied to the current football staff, and those are related to former Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil."

All of that has yet to be disproven, even after tonight's AP story...though it does sound carefully worded with intent to mislead.

"A very minimal number"

NINE. NINE. NINE.
Pretty much 1/3, wouldn't you say?

Tunsil sat out 9 games because of a secondary infraction?

The LOA comes and they were lying about the severity. No duh.

What part of it did you ever believe?

Im not arguing they lied. They did lie...they had to dispell any concerns before NSD. Same reason Tom Bowen lied about not knowing the attendence numbers today...the truth is ugly, its better to mislead (especially when your trying to get voted into the Big 12).

Im more curious if they lied about the number or allegations (not a big deal) or the seriousness of them (big deal).

For those of us out-of-towners, and CA website ignorers...Have the local cracker-jack news media - and that guy who tries to be a sports journalist for the radio (?) - come out with any investigative series into this? I've missed the links and commentary, but surely they've been all over this for the past week. Wondering how all are spinning it.

HAHAHA! Diff issue.

Ole Miss/Freeze lied to coaches, families, and RECRUITS themselves in order to deceive them into signing an LOI.

National signing day is not a reason to lie about the allegations.

Part of the reason NCAA released when they did, is so Ole Miss would start to feel the punishment.

Now that they are on record as minimalizing things with their LIES, you can look for the NCAA to really smack Ole Miss.

I truly believe the Johnny Rebs are in for a huge Smackdown.

Still its more concerning to me if they lied about the seriousness of the allegations.

And, before you start, using rhetoric to spin things less negatively than they may appear to be is one thing.

Downright LYING, is NOT putting a spin on things.
It's just downright lying.
Now, they're caught.

If Pearl got nailed for lying about a BBQ, what do you think the NCAA is gonna do to Ole Miss for lying to so many recruits and families?
