A kid that grew up smack dab in the middle of North Dakota, and stayed in-state, to boot.
Don't know if he'll have the talent to lead a team to the Super Bowl, but whoever takes him is guaranteed to get a hard worker who doesn't get into trouble. That's a fact.
He is truly the classic late bloomer...grew what 6 inches from Jr year to Sr year in HS.

As a Browns fan I am interested in our next drafted starting QB to fail-in-waiting. Horrible track record but at some point you have to believe they will get it right...
Why?
Well...it might just be the definition of insanity but you can't get it right without another opportunity to draft one. New organizational structure and a new offensive minded head coach create another chance to make the right pick. As a loyal fan, there is no other approach to it outside of cynicism or rooting for another team. The latter is an impossibility for me.
Will be interesting to see what they do. Hue Jackson may not want to plug a rookie QB into his offense.
Also, we all just saw who was the game-changer in the Super Bowl, and it wasn't a QB. Teams might be inclined to draft an A-plus pass rusher (Bosa) or a tackle to keep that pass rusher away from your QB (Tunsil) before a QB who might not be ready to lead a team to the playoffs in year one or even year two. To be a QB who is ready for that, you need a guy whose game is fully developed, and who is mature, like Russell Wilson, and you need a team that is playoff-ready like the Seahawks were in Wilson's rookie year.
I'm as big a fan of Goff as there is, but if I was drafting first or second for a bad team with a lot of needs to fill, I'd probably go with Bosa unless I already had at least one all-pro pass rusher.

Bosa likely gone to Tennessee and even if he wasn't when your QB options are 37 year old Josh McCown who can't stay healthy and Austin Davis the biggest hole you have is QB.
The saving grace for either Goff or Wentz is they have a 9 Time All Pro and Future Hall of Famer Joe Thomas at Left Tackle

I actually don't believe the Browns have multiple glaring needs (despite their record this past year), or at least anything more pressing than a young, quality starting QB. Bosa looks like he could be the next JJ Watt but the Browns have not had a franchise QB since Bernie freegin' Kosar. It's been a glaring deficiency and IMO with the #2 pick they need to take the best QB on their board. The pressure to immediately start him is off somewhat with McCown in the wings but I would let the rook take the reigns unless he just couldn't grasp the system. I believe Coach Jackson will also help instill a system around which a rookie QB can have some success.

The Browns biggest priority is re-signing Mitchell Swartz the RT...Alex Mack is gone....now they have to coach up Cam Irving-(who was awful this year)

Dang, I didn't know Joe Thomas was that good. Obviously I don't pay much attention to the AFC.

Yeah...his numbers suggest he is a lock to be a 1st Ballot Hall of Famer...he done what no other lineman has ever done...basically since his Rookie year made the Pro Bowl and been 1st Team All Pro...plus he has never missed a game in his career...not even Jonathan Ogden who was 1st ballot did what he has done as far as individual accomplishments...

I love Joe both on and off the field. He's so good and consistent that you forgot he's out their protecting the left wing. I think it speaks to his professionalism and dedication to play so well for so long on a bad franchise. He would be known a lot more among NFL fans if he played on a winning team. He will go down as one of the best all time NFL o. lineman and one of the all time great Cleveland Browns IMHO.

RE: NFL offseason thread
I wonder if Ryan Leaf 2.0 will ever get another NFL job. That would Johnny Football.
