Deserves a bust or a statue on campus.

Yep. We have freakin' NIT banners in the rafters at the Forum. A Big Jack jersey with the number 79 needs to be raised right next to Bartow's. Should have been done long ago.

79 would be awesome. Nice catch !

Met Big Jack at the old Mid-South Coliseum, like many here. Had a few conversations with him thru the years and found out he loved going to Maywood Swimming Pool when he was a young lad and jumping off the "high dive". Had a photo made with him at Greek Fest after his "Great Scott, I Rhyme a Lot" book of his 100 favorite poems came out and can't find that photo anywhere. He also signed the book....will be treasured forever. He was one special man. One of his poems in 2010:

The University of Kentucky had the absolute gall
To hire the most dishonest coach of all.

Look up-crook-in the dictionary and it would be rare
If you didn’t see John Calipari’s picture there.

The NCAA knows him, that’s for sure
And his reputation is less than simon pure.

His trips to the Final 4 have been a bumpy ride
On both occasions his teams have been disqualified.

Coach Cal accepted disgrace with a wry, slight smile
Hey, even Jesse James got caught once in a while.

So the Wildcats will keep doing business the same old way
The rules are in place for others to obey.

But there is still hope because his critics will brag
Cal can’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag.

Here's a photo I took of Jack at a tiger basketball game a few years ago.

RE: Jack Eaton
I grew up watching Jack Eaton. I relate Memphis Sports with Mr. Eaton. His poems were legendary. And, he always left you smiling, even after a Memphis loss. Memphis sportscasting has never been the same without him. I would consider him family every night watching his sports reports. Then, after he was done, I watched the next best thing at night, Johnny Carson. NBC had my attention many of nights because of these two great men.

My prayers for out to the friends and family of Mr. Eaton. He most definitely will be missed, a legend and family.

RIP Jack
"Great Scott!!"

We should rename the MT.org Sports board the "Big Jack Eaton" Sports Board. 04-cheers

I hope they raise a banner for him at the Fed-Ex Forum. He deserves it.
