NIU - Womble 4 star in HS then 3 star JUCO. He was garbage. Deion Hallmon had offers from everyone under the sun, what's he doing in JUCO. Charlie Miller.
EMU- Roback 4 star kid who has been replaced numerous times at QB
WMU - I guess their 4 star QB is gone.

Just at NIU you have no star players like Golladay that can play. 5 or so of the best players to ever suit up for NIU and maybe more had 2 stars or less. Ward, Lynch, Wolfe, Turner, Harnish. Probably Free and Diem as well. Only LeShon was highly recruited.

Then look around the league. Matt Johnson 2 stars I believe, Khalil Mack had one FBS offer and it was because he was recruited to Liberty and that position coach then went to Buffalo. Corey Davis is pretty damn good.

You could go on and on. 3 stars are nice to get, but you really need to develop talent in this league. A lot of 3 star guys coming in are usually undersized skill players. They have speed but they need to develop to get bigger and take the wear and tear.

I'll gladly take higher recruited guys but track record in this league points at development is your biggest thing. If they fit your system you can get them to be better players.

what is the criteria that makes one a 3 star vs a 2 star, 10 lbs, an inch, .2 second in speed. Several years ago when Green Bay played I forgot who in the super bowl , there were 15 MAC players on both teams rosters. You very seldom if ever see Nebraska in the upper echelon of rankings. The have a philosophy, especially with linemen, of recruiting the frame and building the player.

There is such a minimal difference that is laughable. These guys have to give stars to thousands of recruits, there is simply no way they can accurately project these kids unless they are their sometimes for and usually 5 star guys that they actually spend time on. When you get to 3 and 2 and NR players, I honestly don't know what the difference besides maybe high school notoriety for D-1 Players and height and weight. The difference between a 2 star and a 3 star is probably a friendship with a head coach.

I guy I work with son is at coaches and teaches at Eisenhower and hesays Kenny Scott is a player that will that will be very productive at NIU. How do we get him, our coaches out work and evaluate talent and have the relationship.

RE: Signing Day 2016
For those that missed it in the ESPN3.com signing day show Carey said that he would like all the guys to red shirt but it happens every year where 3-5 guys come ready to play and contribute to the team immediately.

Deion Hallmon started at corner last fall for Iowa Western CC. He's graduating this year but did not receive any offers that I could find. I see where he recently started following some Southeast Missouri State coaches on Twitter. Maybe Tuke will throw him a lifeline. How the mighty have fallen.

On the ESPN signing show, Coach Carey inferred that there may be more from Mt. Carmel.

RE: Signing Day 2016
Was JJ Watt tweet ever posted here? I am paraphrasing but essentially he stated that he was a 2 star out of high school...."it's not how you start but how your finish"

Maybe someone can find that tweet
