Ok, I'm not a hockey fan. Suhthern boy. I see it, I understand, I just don't put any time into it at all.

That said, the John Scott story is just FN great. The NHL opens the All-Star voting to all comers, Reddit and the rest of social media elect an enforcer, a goon with five goals on his career. The league refuses to release the vote totals out of embarrassment because he smokes the glory players, then not only tries to get him to not accept the All-Star slot and to give it to a more deserving and skilled player but has a representative actually ask him to reconsider "because what would his daughters think?'

So he not only is on the winning team, he scores two goals, and when the league puts up a twitter vote for MVP and he is not included in the vote the fans begin chanting "MVP!" every time he touches the puck and start an impromptu twitterstorm and force them to declare him the All-Star MVP.

****, he even bodychecks Patrick Kane *in the All Star Game*!

That's some good stuff.

Oh, the kicker? He was traded just before the game, and Montreal assigned him to a minor league team, so not only did he play, win the MVP, but he did it when he wasn't even an NHL player!

I friggin' love it.

Yeah, I'm pretty much the same. I don't really pay much attention to hockey, but I've been hearing about it on sports radio for a while now. It's definitely a great story.

Of course, it all started as a big joke but the guy was actually pretty hurt by it at first. He didn't even want to go to the game, but, after some consideration and some advice from his wife, he decided to make the most of it. Not only that, but he actually scored, legitimately seemed to have a good time, and he was voted MVP which netted him some extra money. I would have thought to watch if I had remembered what time it was on, but it's definitely a feel good story.

It was close to being a big miss by the executives I imagined, but the players seemed to rally around him.
