MDead coverage
Ok, maybe I missed it. WMU hockey team plays #2 ranked D1 storied hockey program in front of a large, vocal crowd on Saturday night and zero coverage? I mean...anytime we get 3,300+ people in one place in town there should be coverage in the local rag. But hey....I do know now where to find the biggest Stromboli!

RE: MDead coverage
Just like a lot of people he probably checked out on this team too. No excuse though for a local sports reporter. Even if he was there, the questions and reporting would be softballs. He's afraid to ask the tough questions. On a side note, many community "papers" have done away with those positions. He should be lucky to have a gig. Another side note; Glad to see a big crowd and a few close games this weekend.

Who the hell are you referring to? How about removing your head from your rear before offering another take on this subject.

WMU just emailed a mass email to fans about Mlive/Gazette dropping coverage.

Was referring to David Drew, he never asked the tough questions or dug deep into anything. Reporting was all superficial. But I guess I was right, Mlive, ended their coverage of WMU sports.

You're right, he probably should have done that on his own time and dime, just like how CD/CD1/CD2 said he should have covered the OSU game on his own dime. Probably would have saved his job, right? How many press conferences with DD did you sit in on? You seem to have a lot of opinions about how DD did his job for a guy who just pulled his head out of his rear long enough to realize MDead laid off its WMU writer. Wonder why?

RE: MDead coverage
You are awful defensive about this topic. Are you DD? Didn't have to sit in on pressers. Watched plenty of them online. Didn't say he needed to cover a damn thing on his own dime. wouldn't expect it, especially if he had been let go prior to the games. Even if he were tougher in his questioning, he wouldn't have survived their down sizing. MLive has fired a lot of people over the years.

As for my head up my ass... well that's your opinion, but based on your comments, only your opinion counts.

Yeah, takes a real genius to forecast MDead laying off anyone, nevertheless its WMU writer. No one could foresee that, in an age of media restructuring and consolidation. You, sir, deserve a medal.

DD took a lot of heat from Monday Morning QBs like yourself who always thought he should be doing other things, more things and more things better to succeed in his job. I believe he worked very very hard and was a talented reporter dealt a very bad hand and that he'll be back on his feet in no time.

You, on the other hand, can get bent.

Reporting takes a little more nuance than just crushing someone's balls publicly every chance you get. If you actually knew what you were talking about, you might understand this.

Didn't mean to hurt your feelings DD. I re-wrote it to try and sympathize with your recent unemployment. Been there and it's no fun, and I know a lot more about reporting than you think I do, but to elaborate would violate my privacy and that's the great thing about boards like this, I don't have to expose myself. Didn't say you had to bust balls all the time, but there are issues with this Hockey team, that should be talked about or at the very least dug into a little deeper from what should be a neutral source. I wish you well with your future endeavors.

I'm clearly not DD who has posted here under his real name on occasion. If you had even a sliver of respect for the guy, you'd stop calling me his name.

Why don't you go ahead and share these deeper issues with the hockey program that DD should have "dug deeper" on.

Wow!

Quite a complement to WMU and its fan base. 02-13-banana

I was at the game Saturday night and at the ND victory. They were rock concerts. Great fun.

Nice write up, though I cringed at first when he was talking about our "dull, yellow seats."

I would hate to see what he thinks about BG or Ferris.

Helps that literally the only other sports draw in that state is NDSU football.
