Who of us here would turn down multi-millions from our ambassadors? No one. We gambled on the fact that we believed he would turn into a great bball coach, and to date, that just hasn't happened. There is also very little evidence at this time that he ever will. I do believe that he really is trying. It's just not happening for whatever reason(s). But I still don't begrudge him for accepting the contract. That being said, I don't believe for 1 sec that he means what he says re: being completely satisfied with how things have transpired.
This shouldn't even have to be said.

That's not why people are upset with him, in fact it's probably what has bought him as much time here as he's had. People are upset because he doesn't seem to be a good fit as the Memphis head bball coach.
I have a bit more respect for the man after he gave this kind of presser. Why not more of this over the years instead of the canned responses and generic mindfulness coach speak blahness? For the first time I actually believe that our coach is a real person instead of a sociopath and/or someone who is in way over their head.
It's too little/too late at this point but I appreciate the candor.
I agree with what you said--except for the "sociopath" part. LOL.....Otherwise, that was a good summation of the situation. I would love nothing more than to see this situation turn around, but it does seem to have an air of inevitability about it. The only way that might change is if the Tigers strung together a whole bunch of wins immediately, and the odds are against that happening. But you never know.
My wife, boys and I met Josh at his radio show the night before the Tulane game. He could not have been nicer, or more gracious with us. He insisted we get a bunch of pictures, and he signed several photos. He even told us to meet him courtside prior to the tipoff against Tulane, which we did. I can't imagine any other D1 coach doing that for a group of people he didn't know. My boys were beyond thrilled to meet him, because even though we're in Michigan, we've watched and/or listened to all but probably 10 games in his tenure as the head coach.
Coaches are hired to be fired, or they move on by their own hand, and everyone understands that. When he took the job, I don't believe anyone figured he'd be a 10+ year guy. That's just not the reality and landscape of college coaching anymore.
Whatever happens........Go Tigers!!

Ok, fine. He had a total pass on that season. Move on.
What we tire of is the kindergarten coach speak, jumping around like a chicken with his head cut off, consistently refusing to hire a bench coach with experience to guide him, stupid fly by night gimmicks, DAP counting, Frank, flash cards, not calling timeouts, calling them after made baskets, not taking players out in the first half after they pick up two fouls, playing favorites with the wrong players, and never getting a handle on roster balance. Oh, and recruiting is in the tank.
But, hey, let's remember he wanted to be the head coach AND 3rd assistant after Murphy left.
This post deserves a DAP
Before I respond to that comment, let me first acknowledge that MT.org is a real hall of fame message board. I have some dear friends on here and there are some top notch posters. Every single one of them deserves all the credit in the world and the mods--let me say this-- they should all get lifetime contracts.
I also want to thank the first responders, the teachers, the nurses, the butchers, the bakers, the candlestick makers, the doctors, the lawyers, the indian chiefs--you are the real heroes.
As to the post, thanks.
Good chit, Saloogie

The narcissist speaks. Get him on the first bus, to wherever the **** we can give him a ticket to, OUTTA HERE!. This man has totally raped this program and every fan in this city and every fan across this great country. Josh I make a plea. "Please negotiate a buyout!". PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
This red rubber nosed circus clown has completely duped all of us. He may be the worst coach in the entire NCAA. I'm sure he is. Talk about riding the coattails of a legend. I absolutely hate this son of a *****.

I don't hate Pastner, I think he serves the community well, and think he is a decent man. BUT, that has nothing to do with his coaching ability. Way too many empty seats in the forum and the student section is pretty much empty. Apathy has set in, in a big way. For the sake of the program, the sooner he's gone the better....GO TIGERS

I think the world of Josh as a person. I am one of those people you hear about that has had really hard time with both of my parents the last few years.....someone on this board let Josh know when my mom was in the hospital and Josh called me, followed up with an email. Who does that? For some random fan? That bought him another coupe of years with me. Couple of years are up though....ready for a change.

No it wasn't. Blue Crew was in full swing and the biggest crowds of students the FEF has seen.
