Make him associate AD until his contract expires then send him packing.

I really don't care what they do with Pastner, I just want his @ss gone, as far, far away from this program as possible. Guy's a joke of a coach and has succeeded in making our basketball program a joke.

2. Tell Damon he is still assistant coach but he is now coaching the team. He calls all shots. He doesn't need "head coach" label nor does he need head coach salary. I would guess he has some money in the bank.
3. Tell Faher Lawson he is fired. That will save a few hundred thousand. Dedric is gone after freshman year and certainly after soph year and K.J. is not worth the money we are spending on Fher Lawson to sit his fat ass on the bench. I don't care that they have little brother in junior high who is a stud.
4. See what happens. Will not cost any money. Pastner may get antsy and start shopping for new gig. Who knows there may be some dumb*** ought there who bites like we did.
5. Is there a fallacy in this plan?

Bowen should resign if he pushed that that unreal contract for Pastner. The fallacy in your plan is it would not work-imagine that in corporate world.

I think they will negotiate the buyout or he will step down.

I think he's going to get 10.6 million dollars over the next 4 years not to coach.

And that's the only way the university/booster combination (which gave us this contract) will come out in the black over the next 4 years. Otherwise it'll be hemorrhaging money on lost TSF donations, ticket revenue, and whatever else the Griz don't get from game-related activities.

I can't believe people on here are saying we can't afford $10 million and that we need to keep him another four years. Do they not own a calculator? We're going to be losing $10M or more PER YEAR if they don't pull the trigger, and that's not even counting all the losses for years AFTER his contract expires from former fans who have completely forgotten about Tiger basketball.

Something is going to come to an end -- either Pastner's job here or anything that looks like a dollar coming into the university from basketball. I'm just hoping Rudd or Bowen one realize that.

I don't know that this is true. He didn't deserve an iron-clad 7 year contract guaranteed for 5 years. But the program looked poised to take off when they gave him a raise, and USC was really coming for him with 2 million in hand. I don't think they wanted to lose a bidding war to another P5 school at that point.

The mistake was not including a buyout provision and/or including the automatic roll overs.

^THIS. Why these truly business-savvy boosters left themselves no down-side protection in this contract is beyond me. For a guy so inexperienced and unproven. You could still make him filthy rich without burning the bridge back "just in case".
