The off season for the LatinoAmerica tour during the South American winter roughly corresponds to the Mackenzie tour (i.e, the so-called Canadian summer). Yes, Conners is fully qualified for the Mackenzie tour based on his performance last summer.

In golf action this week, Taylor Pendrith, Ryan Yip and Mackenzie Hughes are playing the web.com tour event in Louisiana. Pendrith and Yip will miss the cut, while Hughes should make it (they stopped play during the second round today because of weather). He's near the cut line though and will need a big run to get into contention.

And, Corey Conners is playing the Lexus Panama Classic on the Latinoamerica Tour. He had back to back eagles today to push himself into a tie for 1st going into the weekend. This is following up on a third place finish during the year's first event, so he's off to a very nice start.

Not to mention Ben Curtis is playing in the Arnold Palmer. I mean was playing. 80-82, +18, last place. Very rough week. Triple bogeyed his first hole and it just never got better. Tripled first hole on the back nine on day 1 too.

Ben is cooked. When you don't play often, you usually don't play well when you do.

I don't think he has many choices about when he can play. This week was an invitational, but he won't get a lot more opportunities for a while.

That's true, but he did that to himself.

Pendrith even par today which backs him up on relatively easy course. 10 shots back in 29th place.

Too many bogies today. Hopefully, he'll pick up the pace tomorrow and finish well.

Big picture: it's $6k closer to a PGA card.

I don't know if you guys remember Steve Lohmeyer or not from KSU Men's Golf, but he is in the pro's as Brendon Todd's caddie on the PGA Tour.

Here a few links to stories on him:

To the web.com tour in Columbia, Ryan Yip, Taylor Pendrith and Mackenzie Hughes are in action.

In today's first round, Hughes shot 2 under (tied for 6th), Yip 1 under (tied for 16th) and Pendrith is 11 over through 15 holes and in last. It'd be the greatest round of bopol's life, but I'm sure Pendrith isn't happy with it.

Rough Day for the Kent guys:

* Pendrith recovered today and shot par, but you really can't recover from a first round 83 and he misses the cut.

* Yip shot 7 over today and misses the cut.

* Hughes shot 2 over, and makes the cut tied for 40th.

RE: Kent Golfers in the Pros - 2016
Hughes shot even today and will finish tied for 30th or so.

Even though not a great weekend, it is important to make the early cuts to stay in the tournaments throughout the year. After 8 tournaments (this was the 5th), the order in which players can be selected for the tournament is reordered and early success ensures that you can get in the tournaments all year. Right now, Pendrith is in great shape (27th in money), Hughes ok (93rd in money) and Yip needs a good tournament badly (150th in money).
