I can see that. It was kind of made as as a slap in the face to Hollywood. They couldn't get funding in the first place, so they turned to netflix and international producers. Politically, it may have been a bad move.

I read somewhere that due to the way the movie was distributed ....it was not eligible to be voted on. I would like to see another movie based on what is going on now in some of the countries with the Muslim Terrorist Armies.

It's not a one race only award. It's as much of a one race only award as the CMTs.

That is not equal at all. The BET's have a distinction towards one race in their name. The CMT's do not.

Yes it is. BET is just the name of a channel that caters to a genre that features mostly black talent consumed by mostly white people. CMT is the name of a channel that features white talent consumed by mostly white people.

If it's just the name and they rebranded themselves to something seemingly neutral, it would be pretty much a color-swapped CMT (except with more genres).

I don't think it's racism or segregation either. Black music and entertainment (I'm talking about R&B and Gospel mainly) finds it very hard to get distribution on mainstream networks. Country music also flies on the outside of mainstream in the same manner. If you can't get recognition or distribution, you have to find your own way.

They actually could. That's going to be very difficult to get funded though. Probably moreso than Beasts .

One thing that would turn a movie like that into a difficult proposition is that you're going to have to make these characters dynamic. Nobody (remember the last names of those big film producers) will want to fund a film that makes you feel sympathetic towards Islamic terrorists.
