It was hard to see their little boy in this environment of uber-materialism. I'm all for capitalism, and making a success of your life, but this just appears to be a bit too much of a distortion of values. Yes, his mom is a knockout, his dad a successful businessman, but it just looks too warped and materialistically excessive for my tastes. I need someone who's more relatable. And not the power-hungry, duplicitous, calculating snake Hillary--she's just as bad if not worse. Click the link in the headline for the pictures and decide yourself--would you really want to live that way every day?

At home with Donald and Melania Trump
By Darla Guillen Published 4:31 pm, Thursday, January 7, 2016

It should come as no surprise that Donald Trump likes to live large.

Still, it's somewhat of a shock to take a visual tour of his opulent New York City penthouse, which is completely awash with gold-hued accents. Some of which are undoubtedly 100-percent gold.

Elaborate murals, ritzy chandeliers, Carrera marble columns and panoramic Central Park views served as a backdrop for Donald Trump, Melania Trump and their son Barron Trump when they posed for a 2010 photo shoot in their home.

For the shoot, the presidential candidate donned a suit and tie by Brioni. His wife, Melania Trump, sported a variety of outfits. Notably, a Halston gown and Manolo Blahnik shoes: both ideal for "lounging" in a multimillion-dollar Trump Tower unit.

Among some of the photo settings is Melania Trump's office, in which she works on her jewelry line, Melania Timepieces and Fashion Jewelry. In other photos, she offers an intimate glimpse into her bedroom and over-the-top closet, which holds a vast collection of name-brand accessories.

As for "The Donald", he strikes a very natural pose when taking a selfie with a vintage accordion camera.

Take a photo tour of penthouse in the gallery above.

The shoes brought to mind Imelda Marcos, although Imelda had thousands more than Trumps' lastest wife.

I would decorate differently, and would need a balcony. Does he have one? I am sure the Silicon Valley guys have
spreads that make that look tame. At lease he earned his money. Clinton's were broke when they left office made

You are a reporter. Are any of the accents 100% gold, yes or no? Because otherwise you are casting aspersions and letting your bias show.

Imagine if my quote about the reporter was something along the lines of "It was quite a shock to see Darla in her outfit, awash in cleavage, of which undoubtedly she has had breast augmentation."

Again, I'm all for freedom and capitalism. He can choose to live that way--I want none of his money, nor do I want the government to take it away from him. Just wish he had a bit more personal self-restraint. But then, this is Donald Trump I'm speaking about, that which makes him interesting as a candidate is partly exhibited here as well.

I'm not a fan of his decorating tastes (one thing for that to be a casino, another for your home.) Granted, this was a "staged" shoot, and taken back in 2010 before he was a serious Presidential candidate, so perhaps he's mellowed a bit. Still, plays right into the "Romneyification" the Democrats like to use.

Given the choice, I'd opt for what the Pope is currently doing--not using the papal residences and opting for the smaller guest apartment instead. (You know, so he can worship the sun and everything, right?)

Rich people live a rich lifestyle, soooprise.

Would it make any difference if it were the surroundings of a very successful plastic surgeon or NBA player?

Big deal. We used to celebrate the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, Hefners or Kennedys.

You recall "Camelot"? At least Trump earned his money legitimately.

Yeah, I'm more for the southern plantation home style than the gilded victorian style, but to each their own.

I'm not against being rich, JMU. I tend to think more like this:

Quote:What Do Wealthy People Really Drive?

What brand of car do you think wealthy people most often drive? Mercedes? BMW? Lexus?

If you answered any of those models, you’re only partially right. That’s because, according to a study done by researchers at Experian Automotive (and published on Forbes), 61% of wealthy people actually drive Hondas and Toyotas and Fords, just like all the rest of us.

What amount of income do they consider to be “wealthy”? The IRS says only 2% of American households make more than $250,000 a year, so that’s the dividing line.

These big-time earners—people who could easily afford a new Mercedes if they chose—drive Honda Accords or Toyota Camrys. That gives a whole new meaning to the idea of “the millionaire down the street,” doesn’t it?

The top 10 cars for $250,000-plus households include the Mercedes E-class, the Lexus RX 350 and the BMW 5 series and 3 series. Following those top four were three Hondas, a Toyota, an Acura and a Volkswagen.

Also, it’s sadly not surprising that 8% of people who make less than $100,000 own a luxury model car. If that isn’t an effort to keep up with the Joneses, then we don’t know what is. You make $50,000 a year and you own a $60,000 car? That’s insane.

Dave talks all the time about how down-to-earth the “average” millionaire actually is. Only 2 in 10 millionaires are actually retired. Most of them still go to work every day and continue to generate income and save for their family’s future.

This picture of a low-profile millionaire driving a Honda to work every day doesn’t fit our culture’s stereotype of the wealthy person, does it? The “evil one percent” might look just like you and me—the difference is that you don’t see him or her on reality television or in headlines because of some corporate scandal.

Someone making $250,000 a year could easily afford a nice Mercedes, but only 39% of them choose to drive that type of car. How interesting.

Maybe image isn’t worth as much as you think.

I work for two surgeons. One drives an old Tahoe that's desperately in need of a paint job and the interior is shredded. The other drives a 1995 Porsche that he bought off of eBay and an old Silverado. Both easily make over $300k/year I assume.

The Mercedes E-Class is absolutely a solid choice for a wealthy individual.

Medical school loans? Alimony? Massive investment in a Herb-a-Life franchise? ;.)

For most middle class families, it's easier to get a new car with payments (but also a warranty) and leave behind the car issues. Only the rich can afford an old car, as odd as that sounds.... If you want people to think you are EXTREMELY rich, buy a used luxury car with questionable reliability.

But if I make that type of scratch a year where I don't have to worry about funds for repairs, I will also make my daily driver an older German sports car - or perhaps a gentile 1980s Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Yeah, that's more what I'm talking about. Nothing wrong with being wealthy, and having some nice stuff. Seeing those Trump home photos just screamed "insecurity" a little too much for me.

Different side of the same coin of Hillary's constant power-mongering shows her deep insecurities as well. Of the two, I definitely think Hillary is the more insecure/insincere. Trump at least knows who he is and lives it unabashedly. Hillary has no grounding in anything and no values she's not willing to sell/whore off for the right price.
