RE: January 15th deadline (update: we surpassed the goal)
Yes if we missed the operational pledge to bring back football it is possible to abolish football again. But IMHO even the BOT is not that stupid (for now).
However a likely outcome would be to treat athletics like every other Revenue/expense department and simply lower the expenditures/budget usually for next year. So for example the budget was 30 mil and miss by 1 million next year would be 29 mil However the money can be hard to make up with so many fixed expenses

The BOT is that stupid... The care not what we the "vocal few" think. However, they are not bold enough to stick it to the Birmingham business community. Thank God for people like Hatton Smith and others.

Except that with the program not actually playing games for two years, the expenses up front are way lower than they would otherwise be

We have coaches and staff salaries, scholarships (we should be getting close to having a full complement of players by summer ), food and board, insurance, equipment and supplies, scouting/recruiting, etc already to be paying. Im not so sure that game day expenses and travel to half of the games each year really amounts to way lower expenses, especially when you factor in the loss of income from games ( home and buy games ).
