RE: Cincinnati Bengals
I'm not a Bengals fan. Never have been. My team was Joe Montana and the 9ers back in the day. I quit watching/liking the NFL around 1996.

Having said that...with all the hype around the game I tuned in last night for a bit. The bengals fans and team looked like classless chumps on national tv.

I never went to a bengals game when I lived in Cincy and never supported that franchise. Last night was a good reminder why.

I am a Steelers fan and I loved the Bengal players' late game meltdown. Thanks, guys!

My agenda is that I have an "anyone but the Patriots" attitude, and so want the Patriots to have as tough a road as possible. IMO, the Pats would have crushed the Bengals with little difficulty, while the Chiefs will present more of a challenge. So I was glad to see the Bengals melt away as well.

BTW, the Broncos - Steelers will be a classic, and that FG kicker the Steelers have is cool as a cucumber. Just knocks them all straight down the middle.

RE: Cincinnati Bengals
As I stated in another thread, I am just about done as a sports fan. I'm not going out of my way to watch the Bengals next year unless Marvin Lewis is gone. I'm not going out of my way to watch Bearcats football next year unless Tuberville is gone. And if the Bearcats miss the tournament this year, I'm basically done with the basketball team as well. Never cared much for baseball, so while the Reds' ineptitude is frustrating, I'm not as emotionally invested. But I'm taking a big step back from sports and refocusing my energy on things that aren't as heartbreaking as Cincinnati sports teams. Probably won't see me on the boards as much anymore because, frankly, I just don't care anymore.

Who are they going to find that's better to replace him? He'll keep his job.

Lewis is the first coach in NFL history to be 0-7 in the playoffs. Add to the fiasco last night and dude is as good as gone. You can bet your mortgage on that!

In my opinion a penalty should have been called on him and Adam Jones just offsetting that second penalty. I'm sure the NFL will look at it.

Texans fans must be glad that this game ended the way it did so it will overshadow one of the worst playoff performances by any team I've ever seen. The AFC South is such a joke.

As a AFC South supporter, I support this statement.

Mike Brown is not like other owners. He won't get rid of Lewis if his teams have winning records. He doesn't do quarterback controversies. He would have allowed Carson to play out his contract. Unless Marvin decides to step down, he'll be the coach here as long as he's willing. This franchise has been a model of stability since Marvin was able to get control of player movements.

Marvin Lewis has been the best thing that has happened to that franchise since the 80's. He's competitive. Eventually, they'll get over the hump. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning can't play forever.

I wouldn't have a problem with Lewis keeping his job. But I would also understand if the Bengals did decide to part ways with him. He has underachieved miserably in the playoffs and with the talent Lewis currently has on this team, that should not be the case. I don't think the Bengals should be content with making the playoffs and bowing out in the first round. Again, 0-7 in playoffs games. That sucks!!!

Brady and Manning? We've never even played them in the playoffs. We lose playoff games to quarterbacks like TJ Yates and Mark Sanchez.

I keep hoping that Mike Brown will succumb to the siren call of Los Angeles and move the Bengals west, but no such luck. Mike is a living and constant reminder that the gifts of the father aren't always conferred upon the son. That humming sound you hear is the legendary Paul Brown spinning at 300 RPM or so in his grave. And Marvin Lewis? The only reason a man with his bland record and helpless sideline demeanor could have enjoyed such a long tenure is because he has a picture of Mike with a ewe.

One of the most epic crash and burns to lose a game I have ever seen. I kind of wanted the Bengals to win so I could stop hearing about their consecutive playoff losses.
