It is what it is. Perception matters. Playing a basketball team with good football history will draw a lot of people here.

So anyway, The Artist Formerly Known As Irk continues to impress, stealing an extra possession with excellent acting skills after a ball bounced out of bounds off Norton's forearm.

This. The casual fan doesn't care we are beating teams like MTSU and WKU. Add to that, we have one NCAA Tournament win since 2007.

In other news, Marshall is looking good again for their 3rd CUSA game in a row. They beat WKU by 18, FAU by 23, and now they're up by 14 on FIU.

If ODU beats Southern Miss there will only be 3 teams undefeated in CUSA play remaining: UAB, ODU, and Marshall.

ODU 24 USM 25 3:37 in 1st

LT 81 Charlotte 79 with 2:00 left in 2nd

Marshall 86 FIU 72 3:52 left in 2nd

RE: UTEP Game thread
As someone said above, our opponents popularity has decreased at a faster rate than our attendance. Should we show up to see UAB, yes, I do, most on this board does. But we are not the ones missing, the fringe UAB fan is missing. The season ticket prices have not gone down, but the quality of opponent has taken a nosedive. As many as we not want that to matter, it does. Some say we played a great opponent today, people should show up. Die hards know that, but ask the fringe fan. We lost the only 3 opportunities we had to impress the fringe fan, yep 0-3. You may not like it, but it's the truth.

Also... the Watts effect has to be taken into account.

I'm for adding the luxury suites and decreasing the capacity of Bartow. The days of packing in 8500 plus fans for a game are probably over unless we are playing a team that will likely bring a lot of their own fans.

Correct. The football fiasco has turned diehard Blazer fans into fans who look for things to complain about and find fault with. We led almost the entire game and was never really threatened in the second half, but to read this thread, you would think we were getting destroyed and our record was 3-13 rather than 13-3.

Fans should not have an adversarial realationship with the entire athletic department. Maybe the wounds are too fresh.

RE: UTEP Game thread
Why all of this doom and gloom? We WILL make the move up to AAC in the next couple of years at the very least. It may not be the same AAC that it is today, but it'll still function to bring better teams to Bartow. It's a only a matter of time...we just need like 2-3 consecutive years of football and basketball success in conjunction with a demonstrated commitment to better facilities (new stadium, upgraded bartow, BBVA compass field, IPF) and we'll make the move up. Celebrate the win!

Where was Madison in the second half, even when we had the big lead? He played some in the first half.

He's been playing less than 10 minutes a game pretty much since the first of December.

Both Madison and Sullivan only played 4 minutes this afternoon.

RE: UTEP Game thread
Sullivan has had a mostly good season, but he came in today and promptly got beat twice on defense, one for an and one three-point play.. He didn't deserve to play much today..

MB can say we are overly negative, but anyone with objective eyes would be worried about our defense. We looked pretty soft to me. We get a lot of nice highlight reel blocks, but we give up a ton of paint points and run outs when we failed to get back on defense..
