Obama claims ‘legal authority’ for exec action on guns, despite Hill backlash
"President Obama vowed Monday to press ahead with new executive actions on gun control after meeting with top law enforcement officials, claiming he has the “legal authority” to act – and defying congressional critics who say he’s pursuing a “dangerous” overreach.
The president, without giving any specifics, said he’ll be “rolling out these initiatives” over the next several days. He spoke after meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch, FBI Director James Comey and other top officials to review their proposals and finalize his plans."

Let's see what he passes. It MIGHT be a few reasonable measures. Maybe.
He sounds like a man that has gone desperate because nobody will listen to him anymore. He's lost complete command of the government, and he's now trying to turn into a dictator.

After Sandy Hook Obama signed 23 executive actions. If anything violence and shootings have increased.
Whatever he does this time will have no impact on gun violence / murder.

I think it's high time the president did something. Be interesting to see what happens.

You are correct. The goal is to confiscate guns. Gun control policy is NOT about violence, it is about a group of people that are afraid of an inanimate object and want it eliminated.
IF liberals really wanted to go after unlawful gun usage, then the first thing to do is to enforce the laws on the books. How about actually putting people in jail for 20 years for their 2nd, 3rd, 4th...gun offense. It seems to me that many of the people committing a great deal of gun violence are people that have already been arrested for gun crimes. Instead, liberals like Obama want go after law abiding gun owners.

RE: Obama claims ‘legal authority’ for exec action on guns, despite Hill backlash
Just read the White House statement. It's full of feel-good BS and uses a lot of words to say very little. Only worrisome part deals with restriction of transactions and mental health. The way it reads it sounds like there is the possibility for the government to arbitrarily decide anybody is a firearms dealer and force them to get a license before selling a gun. Also very vague on what criteria is being expanded in regards to the mental health checks.
The rest is basically BS that anti-gun nuts will think is solving the problem of criminals using guns to commit more crimes.

He could have done something a long time ago that would have had tangible results......enforce the laws already on the books. The ATF doesn't enforce the background check law, doesn't prosecute straw purchases, and the criminal justice system overall doesn't prosecute gun crimes.
As it stands right now it's likely his actions are going to end up the exact same place his executive orders on immigration reform ended up....in court because they are unconstitutional.

I don't know about 'flood the market'. Gun and ammo prices are going up! That's good for the gun shops though. And have you tried finding .22lr ammo? It is only a rumor in some parts. I think it just evaporates as soon as it gets to the shop!

What he said about buying through online dealers is not true at all. When you buy online, it's not like Amazon. They ship it to an FFL. You then go to said FFL, and go through a background check.

I guess "comprehensive" is the new word for "universal". Same underlying plan, just different verbiage. We "got here", Mr. President, because UBC doesn't work without registration, and registration leads to confiscation with a stroke of a pen, regardless of you claiming otherwise.
Beta Barry crying now. I'm done.
