05-deadhorse

Bearhawkeye you were lecturing us earlier this year for not being logical and factual in our bitching about Sir Tubs a Lot. One could argue that you 05-deadhorse relentlessly in your efforts to point out when the board is being emotional/hysterical and not logical or factual. WE NOW HAVE FACTS. 51-3. 42-7. (We even had facts last year and year before...Hellllloooo #Bowlcation)

Also your mission may be noble...but's it's NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. FACTS AND LOGIC HAVE NO PLACE ON A MESSAGE BOARD. now lets all SCREAM.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the apocalypse is nigh!!!! TO THE SEED BANK!!!!

That's the emoticon for beating a dead horse. It's not referring to a lack of facts or logic. It refers to posters redundantly saying the same thing over and over again ad nauseam seemingly in perpetuity. 03-wink

O yea I knew that was the emoticon for beating ze dead horse. I meant to say that you also beat a dead horse in your own way, by often pointing out when posts are seemingly not logical or factual. In a way, I see you as providing a public service to this board full of tortured souls and hapless Bearcat fans...so not saying its a bad thing.

At the risk of sounding like I'm beating a dead horse, iirc that's not at all what I did in this exchange although I think one of my other posts in this thread may partially address some of your comments.

More generally speaking, I don't think that's a particularly fair assessment as I am responding to different issues/comments, it's just the principles that tend to be the same (generally pro: facts, logic, quality humor; and generally anti: beating dead or even alive horses, overreactions and tired unfunny jokes although I often let all of them slide anyway...).

But I understand the dilemma you raise if you want to consider the pointing out of the beating of dead horses as a form of beating dead horses itself. However that gives me a headache and I choose not to see it that way, at least for now.

Thanks for the otherwise kind words. I think. Maybe.

Somebody mentioned Jeff Quinn earlier here which might be a pretty good move.

I also really like the idea of bringing Gino home in some non-OC role pending more info.

I googled Ben but he does not seem to be doing anything FB.

Gino Guidugli is entering his third season with CMU as running backs coach and recruiting coordinator.

In 2014, Guidugli mentored a group of backs that rushed for an average of 155.2 yards per game and led the Mid-American Conference and ranked eighth nationally in average time of possession.

In 2014, Guidugli mentored Thomas Rawls, who rushed for 1,103 yards and scored 10 touchdowns and earned Second Team All-MAC honors, along with Devon Spalding, who as a freshman showed signs of tremendous potential in averaging 5.1 yards per carry and scoring four touchdowns. The Chippewas average 4.0 yards per carry and scored 19 rushing touchdowns in 2014.

In his first season (2013), Guidugli led a deep stable of running backs that averaged 132.8 yards per game and scored 16 TDs on the ground.

This is Guidugli's second stint with CMU as he was an offensive graduate assistant from 2009-11. He assisted in coaching the receivers and the defensive scout team.

Most recently, Guidugli was the starting quarterback for the Arena Football League's Milwaukee Mustangs. In 2011, he passed for 1,313 yards with 23 touchdowns and four interceptions in five games.

Guidugli has also played professionally in the AFL for the New York Dragons (2008), for the CFL's British Columbia Lions (2007-08), and with the Green Bay Blizzard of the AFL2 (2007, 2009), earning Offensive Player of the Week honors three times during the regular season. He also spent training camp and the preseason with the NFL's Tennessee Titans in 2005.

Guidugli played at the University of Cincinnati from 2001-04 and still holds career records for pass attempts (1,556), completions (880), passing yards (11,453), touchdown passes (78), and total offense (11,661).

Guidugli earned most valuable player honors in leading Cincinnati to a victory in the 2004 Fort Worth Bowl, and also received freshman All-America recognition, led Cincinnati to three bowl berths during his four-year career as a starter, was named the Claude Rost Team MVP in 2001 and 2004, was a three-time Conference USA Scholar Athlete. In 2005, Guidugli was inducted into the University's Ring of Honor.

A native of Fort Thomas, Ky., Guidugli earned his bachelor's degree in business marketing from Cincinnati (2005) and master's degree in sport administration from Central Michigan (2012). He and his wife, Michelle, have a son, Ryland.

I like Gino...

I always thought Ben Mauk would be a helluva (QB) coach as well...

Mauk is coaching high school football in Missouri with his dad. He could be a grad assistant.

i think having Gino onboard would be great, but not necessarily with this staff. Too much uncertainty.

He has coached RBs the past 3 years at CMU and is the recruiting coordinator there. I would definitely want an OC who has a background working with QBs to help at that position also but that could be an interesting hire.

Props for giving an actual suggestion unlike most of this thread.

Are you all saying that you enjoyed watching Gino play or you like him as a person? Has anyone saying this ever had any personal experience with Gino?

I'm fairly certain he already was during Kelly's tenure, but I could be mistaken. I thought he had a role with the team after his appeal went through. His family is a group of extremely intelligent football minds, if you ever had the pleasure of watching any of the Mauks sling it around for Kenton HS, you'll know what I mean. I'm sure Bruce can attest, the elder Mauk built some VERY good offensive sets in his time there.

I believe I heard the elder Mauk was recently diagnosed with cancer. Ben may wish to stay close to Dad in Missouri.

RE: any rumors on new coaches
so, TT was going to do phone interviews, or something along those lines, last week with several "candidates". TT was going to bring the "finalists" in this week, for sit downs. TT doe NOT necessarily owe any of us updates on the situation.

But, to me, uc is being eerily quiet on this. I'm kinda past the hope that TT will pull something really good out of his back end. I'm kinda thinking that he's just blowing more TT b.s. at us. But, anyway, I'm still curious who may be in the running, assuming that anybody is.

Anybody care to share / guess on the situation?

I'm very curious and anxious for a resolution, but it doesn't seem eerily quiet to me. TT disclosed a schedule and there's nothing to indicate it has changed. If we don't have a hire by the end of the week, I agree that an update is in order. As far as names, I doubt either party really wants those to be public although I'm slightly surprised how tight the secret seems to be.

I would think by now we would hear a site like footballscoop.com report certain people were "candidates" for the position. The only thing we have heard is Bruce Feldman mention Tyson Helton as a strong candidate a week or so ago (he is now off the books to USC).

It seems very strange, indeed.

Seems like we would hire an OC really quickly.

Is CTT on the hot seat a hindrance or a help in finding a new OC? I would guess it is a major hindrance. When CTT sucks next year, Bohn will likely clean house. Or do you bank on Tuberville finishing out his contract here and retiring which would put our new OC in the perfect position to take over. (shrug)

yeah, its been a week, and, usually, within that time frame, someone always seems to leak something. Another thing, to me, and this may be being done privately (although I thought this was a dead period), would be to try to get some word to your recruits, so that they would have an idea as to what's going on. esp. the offensive recruits, who would be more directly affected.

The only people that think he is on the hotseat are posters on this site...Bohn may have a complete opposite view...

Tennessee, defensive coordinator John Jancek mutually part ways;

Wonder if he'd wanna come back. :)

Oh dear Jesus no...he's the only reason why Stephen Daniels didn't come here. That being said, at least he knew what a blitz was...
