Now, you can just take Ohio State, Alabama, USC, and Notre Dame if they are even close and there won't be that much jawing because elite #5 just really isn't worth the public putting up a lot of fuss about.
I don't see any reason in the world why they would want to change it.
I think it will eventually get to 8 and then settle there.
I agree with what you're saying, but last year we saw the possible issue with the four-team setup. Baylor and TCU had plenty of people crying foul on their behalf. If that had been Ohio State left on the outside, there would have been an even bigger shitshow.
I think that an 8-team playoff would make things a little better. It's much harder to argue that the team left out at #9 would win three straight games against top-10 competition. Similarly, if some national brand team like OSU, 'Bama or Notre Dame was the team in that 9 slot, they would certainly have at least two losses, which would take a lot of steam out of their complaints.

Outside of the first half of the Ole Miss game yesterday because I like to root for our former coaches, I missed both Semifinals entirely, and the entire Rose and Fiesta Bowls thank Goodness.
I'll watch a good G5 game anyday, but I just can't watch P5 football...it's not the same.
I'm like this with college basketball.

That's sexist saying that is a female channel (ok, so maybe it is), however, I don't watch that channel. I watch tons of crime stuff on ID, the first 48, Killer moms, Murder comes to town, forensic files and all that and I also watch way more football than my husband. However, most of the bowl games were duds. I caught most of them and besides the SBC games, UH and TCU (2 my husband actually watched), they were underwhelming. Uncharacteristically horrible Bowl season. I had them on but really didn't watch them, for most part. I sat messing around on the internet; occasionally checking a score. Letting his wife take over the TV is almost as much as I paid attention having them on my TV.

seems to me that a logical plan would be to take the winners of all 5 p5 conferences + the top ranked g5 team and then fill in with the two highest ranked teams that werent conference winners..

My wife knows that when she turns it to the Hallmark channel, I turn our living room into an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Hilarity ensues.

Personally, I loved the 3rd and 4th quarter despite sitting in the pouring rain.
