Quirky Sports Venues
Speaking of Texas St.'s basketball area and their Wall, got me thinking: what are the strangest or most unique sports venues you've ever seen or had? I'm thinking mainly football or basketball, but I know soccer has some as well. Love how places like Texas State's and Arlington's old arenas give real character to a team.

Don't know if it's quirky, more like it's atrocious is SHSUs football stadium. UCAs baseball field has a crown in left field. One of our former players almost broke his ankle playing out there. Just ended up being a minor sprain.

William & Mary's Zable Stadium. Has a relatively large swath of what would be prime seating cut out of the middle of one side of the stadium, despite being wide open on both ends. Dumb stuff, for such a smart school.

Their "pressbox" is absolutely horrid. At best you can get two people in each room, which was then covered with an overhang that wouldn't allow you to see above the rim of the stadium. With some angles, the field was obstructed due to the overhang. Our coaches actually called the game standing outside of the pressbox on a stairwell.

Kibbie Dome. Weird for football, weird for basketball.

We used to play our basketball games in a rodeo barn with 8,000 people packed in. Called it the Cow Palace. God did that place rock.

Couple years ago I went to a Toledo Mudhens game. Sat in a section that is built onto the side of some of the neighboring buildings and overhangs right field. Pretty unique.

TD arena in Charleston is pretty cool you could walk past it and not notice.
Beautiful 5100 seat arena probably the best small arena .

There is a football stadium in Canada that has a hockey arena built into one side of the stands.

Pittsburgh St has a strange stadium.

Bowman-gray stadium is also a racetrack.

Memphis played in both the Miami Beach Bowl (Marlins Stadium) and St Pete Bowl (Rays Stadium)...both were very "quirky" setups for football.

Although I was never alive for this stadium, nor have I ever been to Texas... I think Clark Field at the University of Texas takes the cake. Had a cliff and scoreboard in the field of play.

Yeah Clark field was interesting. Huge 30 foot limestone cliff in center field.

Timmons Arena at Furman is the oddest place I've ever watched a BB game. It was built as a concert hall that doubles as a basketball arena. It has permanent seats around the top on 3 sides with temporary stands below. On one side of the court is a stage with pullout bleachers. Furman people call it the Helen Keller Arena because you can't see or hear anything going on in there.

Nah, I don't do basketball. Only times I've even been in Strahan are my daughters' 2 graduations and once to change in/out of swimsuit (to hit Sewell) during the SLC baseball tourny.

"Nah, I don't do basketball."

yep, that's definitely a snarky statement...it's like saying "I don't do breathing"
