Trying to figure out if I'm watching the 2 best teams in the nation now or two of the best matched teams.

Alabama's offense is a dinosaur by NFL standards. ...yes, I get the irony. It's just boring.

As much as I'm pulling for Clemson, Alabama is a force to be reckoned with. If Clemson plays an absolutely perfect game, they may be able to come out with a win, but they'll also be heavily beaten along the way. But then again, when you're offered the amount of money and rewards that Alabama has offered its players, you would expect them to have the best team in the nation.

CFB Playoff Thread
Alabama is looking unreal right now. Clemson is likely the best team they will have played this year though so hopefully it'll be an interesting game. I don't want to see another snooze fest like they had with Sparty.

Speaking of snooze, yesterday's playoff ratings were terrible. Down over 40 percent from last year. Neither had 10 million viewers.
Mostly this is because College Football exists to pacify the Rose Bowl and not actual fans, so we got the most important games supposedly on a day that is actually considered a work day for most of the country.

I had a feeling putting the games on NYE was a bad idea.
Why try and fight against a night reserved for parties? Why not do it on the day everyone is recovering at home on a holiday? That seemed to work well last year.

Today is free from any other big sporting events and isn't a work day.
Absolutely idiotic to not play the semifinal games today. Ratings would be double what they were.

The system was created like this because the Rose and Sugar Bowl put enough money in the pockets of the bowl committee and league commisioners to ensure that they kept their New Years Day time slots regardless. From that point, ESPN tried really hard to move the playoffs to whatever the first Saturday in January is in a given year, but that was vetoed as well. Playoffs will be on New Years Eve twice every three years with the third year being the year the Sugar and Rose host Semifinals, and still use their regular timeslots.
