WEST
ISU, KU, KSU, OU, OSU, Texas, TTCH, BYU
EAST
TCU, BAY, WVU, HOUSTON, UCF, USF, CINCI, UCONN
Is precisely what Texas and Oklahoma want- they'll have plenty of SOS from their division, then they get to play a Top 20 but less likely Top 10 team for the championship.
No directional G5 start ups in Big12... ever.

UConn. and BYU is a Bib NO!!!!!!!
The big 12 already said no.
Cincinnati, Memphis, Houston, UCF, USF and East Carolina are the top choices.
Old Dominion is a neighboring state to West Virginia could help out as well.
Northern Illinois also gets in way before UConn. or BYU.
North Dakota State, New Mexico and Colorado State can bring in their very strong academics, and not throw the balance out of loop with the ouliers of BYU and UConn.

Tramel is not an expert on conference realignment...he has been consistently wrong over the last few years on just about everything.

No... No G5 directionals, start ups, or FCS call ups are getting in the Big12. Ever.

It's only the headline that's yelling. Maybe they think that's the modern, updated version of a boy on the corner yelling, "EXTRA, EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT!"

Good to see Providence is keeping eyes on us even when their team is good.

RE: Journal Inquirer: UConn still an option for Big 12
UConn is certainly one of the more interesting schools in realignment. They have decent credentials, but not enough to make them a must-get for conferences. They seem to be working on football, which has been the major damper.
The Big 12 seems to be taking a much more reasoned approach to this round of realignment, unlike last time.
But I think most can agree that the first team on their list is Cincy. They make way too much sense not to be a no-brainer.
The question becomes, do they want to stick to 2 time zones, or stretch to 3? Colorado St is a surprisingly decent option, but like BYU, would require another time zone.
There simply aren't many home run additions that the Big 12 can add. Here is my list (non-scientific) of schools in order that they should be offered or considered.
1. Cincy- Only downside is that they aren't a flagship.
2. Memphis - Some questions about viability and sustainability, but have proven success
3. UConn- If going East, go big. They would be a "Yes!" addition if they were within shouting distance of Morgantown. Distance is the only negative, and that can be worked around in today's climate.
4. Colorado St- 2nd stab at Colorado. Time zone thing is a negative.
5. Houston- Too much Texas.

RE: Journal Inquirer: UConn still an option for Big 12
My current _guesses_, in order of likelihood:
1) Do nothing -- stay at 10 (unless a merger/friendly-splitup with one or more of the other P5 conferences). Develop an agreeable conference network; not all would have to participate in all sports/content.
2) Add one and see how it goes. BYU if their leadership goes public quickly with an attitude change. Cincy if not.
3) Add two west. BYU and Colorado State (or Air Force if not CSU, but AF was unwilling due to their weight restriction).
4) Add two east. Cincy and Memphis.
5) Add one east, one west. Cincy and BYU, CSU, or AF. NM, UNLV, Missouri State, a Dakota school, or Tulane as dark horses.

Is this still happening?
I think if it is, and doesn't become a $$ black hole, it will make CSU much more appealing to the B12

I like a big 14 but i would make the divisions more old school big 8 vs SWC
north: OU, Ok state, KU, Kstate, Io state, Col state, BYU
south: texas, tex tech, tcu, baylor, WVU, x, x
x is 2 from pool of Houston, memphis, cincy, uconn, UCF/USF
