Hearing ETSU alums Marcus Satterfield and even CSU head coach Jamey Chadwell are in the mix.

I doubt Chadwell would leave for Tech at this point.

Why can't someone build a good football program at TN Tech? Good school, good facilities.

Why would Chadwell step and try to build a FCS team at TN Tech when he is already done that at CSU? That would be almost as dumb as coming to ETSU, he has climbed to the top of FCS for now, next step is some fit at the FBS level not moving back down in the FCS ranks.

There's no question, someone could, but it would a lateral or down move for Chadwell at this point. He's already built a playoff-contending program at CSU. He'll only take a power FCS offer or FBS offer.

Chadwell's name has been mentioned as a candidate for the opening at Georgia Southern.

Maybe he wants to be back in TN. Or maybe he's just throwing his name in to get more money.

This^. I could seem him getting a Head Coach at a Georgia Southern, or perhaps a OC at Power 5 team. Those are jobs I see him moving up to, not down to Tech or ETSU.

There's always a valid reason, and it's not always money. Especially when it's at a school that probably can't afford to give him too much of a raise.
I'd say if you did a Google search on Charleston Southern football Academic Progress Rate then compared that number to where the number is that can get you in trouble with the NCAA, you might be able to figure it out.

My bad....they did indeed. His name though was one that was mentioned by at least a couple of media sources as a possibility when the job came open.

Per FootballScoop, current Temple OC and ETSU Alum Marcus Satterfield will be new Tennessee Tech head coach.

Which reminds us once more of the lost decade+ of potential coaches and band directors coming out of ETSU.

Good facilities? Are you talking about Tennessee Tech? 03-wink

I was up there last year and it was the exact same crappy stadium they've had forever. Playing at Science Hill would be a serious upgrade for Tech. Stands are crumbling, zero amenities, worst press box I have ever been in (even worse than WCU's). On the upside, there is plenty of parking near the stadium.

Outside of being a good regional public university, there is absolutely nothing exciting about Cookeville or Tech and they have virtually no media interest (they don't even have regular press conferences after games, because most times there are no media representatives present).

They have had a full time AD for less than a decade (before the AD role was played by a professor on campus). In a word, they have never taken sports very seriously there. Which is why football is consistently average to bad and the basketball team hasn't been to NCAA tournament in 52 years.

Don't get me wrong, I am not trashing them out of spite, my father and grandfather are both TTU engineers (and I dated the daughter of a former head basketball coach).

Satterfield is also a former Mocs OC, so we are definitely pulling for him, but he will be pushing a large rock up a steep hill to get the Golden Eagles turned around

(BTW, 3 former UTC offensive assistants are now coaching OVC teams in Tennessee...Satt at TTU, Will Healy at APSU, and Jason Simpson at UTM)
