So in July Jeff Bourne said that, with respect to COA, “at this point we’re better off monitoring and watching what happens at a national level with cost of attendance through this fall.” Yes, I know about the Alger letter, but originally I understood that JMU was going to revisit the question of COA around the end of the year.

Anybody have any knowledge as to where this stands at JMU, or is it essentially a dead issue now?

I am sure Bourne & Alger are still monitoring this situation, dreading the day that someone from the DNR actually asks about it again.......but unless Sunderland asks it won't happen.....Matt Jones probably does not know what COA is or cannot construct an intelligent question about it, he would rather just throw jabs at EW.

Pesonally, I feel as long as JA is our president we will continue to compete at the FCS level and we will not offer COAs. The administration can claim they are monitoring the situation but what they are actually afraid to say is they are against FBS football and against COAs. It's just a PR move.

I simply believe the primary objectives of JMU are being met so well that JA & Company are afraid of screwing it up. I really don't believe they are against a move and I don't think they are all for staying FCS either, but no doubt they are not comfortable with making a change. It's the fear of the unknown. They are not Lewis and Clark nor Christopher Columbus and until we get that type individual leading we will have what we have.

BP, I agree with you. I feel our leadership is very comfortable with the statues quo.

Nothing really to monitor - FBS and FCS schools with a future and edge for competing are doing COA. Period.

Oh, come on, this is just more griping. Which one of you high rollers has talked with Alger recently, or Alger’s secretary, or Alger’s secretary’s maid, and can fill us in? We were told to expect an update and we should ask for one.
