Ya think, huh? Most of the negativity comes from fans/posters from that school in southeast of you.

This thread doesn't support your comment.

Georgia State's plan will do a lot for downtown Atlanta.

Signed,

a Georgia Southern fan.

funny.... I could swear that almost every post I have seen from a GS fan in regards to Turner field has been a positive one. There might have been doubts on why it may not happen, but I'm pretty sure most of us here have said that we hope they get it.

Yep. Assuming that the whole gambling thing was not a ploy to scare/nudge neighborhood groups, you would have to be familiar with the area. Everyone knows that gambling is never good for surrounding neighborhoods and especially neighborhoods that are already economically depressed. No politician(s) are committing political suicide by signing off on gambling THERE. Also, this is not the first foray into trying to being gambling into Atlanta. If you think people are upset by the GSU/Carter proposal, that will be nothing in comparison to announcing that you're putting casinos in the middle of 5 or 6 lower income neighborhoods.

Pour gasoline.

Light match.

People on here read what they want. If a Southern fan shows concern over a major project that could have tax implications on their hometown or home state, how dare they comment. The audacity of those fans for being concerned. Hey, it is the city of Atlanta, what's not to trust. I'm sure the GSU admin are extremely cautious as well, they know what they are dealing with when it comes to Atlanta politics.

I don't think Georgia State will ever join C-USA. But time will tell.

I do, maybe the AAC though. You just watch what happens WHEN they move into their own facility and eventually start winning consistently. I think they're going to be a plum one day, a big juicy media market plum.
By then Kennesaw State should be ready to take their spot in the Sun Belt if its still around.

Although I will say that I will openly criticize the dome as having an absolutely terrible atmosphere ge wise unless the dome is totally filled. The acoustics are terrible.

With that said, I would enjoy going to turner field in the future for a conference rival game.

There are no domes with good acoustics. Your choices are echo echo echo or I can't hear myself and I think my brain exploded.

That's a much more plausible scenario. Give it a decade and check back.

yup. domes are great acoustically....when it is packed out. But when it isn't, you can't even hear the band in the corner when you are at the 50 yard line.

Fargo Dome is a great example of a dome that has great acoustics. It is insanely loud at that place. I'd be willing to bet that every SBC team would struggle playing in that dome first time around.

The Georgia Dome can be extremely loud with as few as 17k. That is what we had in 2010 vs Jax State and we cause 2 false starts in the 4th quarter.

there was 20k in it this past year when GS was there, and it was still not loud.
