New sheriff there is not
All this WKU chest thumping and my extra free time made me go look up the conference records since we ALL started playing in this version of CUSA. (Last 2 seasons.)
Marshall- 13-3
La Tech- 13-3
WKU 12-4
MTSU 11-5
So Miss 8-9
UTEP 8-8
Rice 8-8
ODU 7-9
UTSA 6-10
FIU 6-10
FAU 5-11
N. Texas 3-13
Charlotte 0-8
WKU and Marshall each have another win if you count conference championship games. La Tech and So Miss each have an extra loss if you decide to count those.
I decided to only count regular season games as I didn't feel it was fair to punish La Tech and So Miss for losing in the CCG.

WKU is 12-0 in last 12 conference games....not too bad.

The three newbies (WKU, MTSU, and LaTech) plus Marshall have had a great record the last two years. Interestingly, unless I'm mistaken, only 1 team in CUSA does not have a losing record against any CUSA team in the last two years.

Interestingly, WKU is 3rd in overall conference record last 2 years.....so just like the title says. WKU is NOT the new sheriff in town.
But yes, La Tech, WKU, and MTSU have been good additions to the conference.

I liked WKU as an addition to this conference until the collective personality of their fan base was exposed.

Wonder if guns can compile a total win/loss for all member schools across the board for all sports. Compare conference titles across all sports as well. Would like to see those numbers.

Go ahead and do it. I don't care about anything other than football.
Just funny. All the talk from WKUYG about this new sheriff in town. Just wanted to show how silly that was.

Again, each of the programs in CUSA need to get better every year and win our OOC games. Then and only then will we come across as a legit league. Running the table this bowl season would help. I hope we can do our part!

What the hell are you talking about? WKU is the conference champion. That's the only thing that matters.

RE: Flyhawk's Marshall pimping thread #87
WKU is the best team this year - just like Marshall was last year. There is no point to argue about it.
WKU beat every single good conference teams this year. They deserve all the praises.

WKUYG and his charts saying that WKU has the best winning percentage in CUSA history as well as a few other crazy things.

Congrats to WKU for a well played season but WKU had the right circumstances fall in place this year to win. Doughty was granted a sixth year and two of their best players on defense transferred from the UAB plugging a huge hole in their defense.
That is usually the case whenever a team wins a championship. LT had a great season in part because a great QB transferred in from UF. USM had a great season because several key players transferred in from JUCOs to shore up their team.
It is if the fact that WKU got several players from UAB that the success of the team should have an asterisk next to it.
Basically, it comes down to this... WKU, no matter why or how, was the best team in the league this year. Period.
Now I won't say that WKU is the new sheriff in town. They are this year, but every year in August a new election cycle begins. We will have to wait until next December to find out who the next sheriff is.
I am optimistic that WKU going forward will be a consistent quality team. Whether that translates to 7 wins or 12 wins will be determined by injuries, coaching changes, etc.. But I believe a good foundation is in place.
The hope is that we are a contender each year and a quality representative of CUSA football every year.

It would do well for our fans to let the football teams to the talking on the field....Oh, what a pipe dream that would be!

Remember last year WKU had a first time head coach and you could tell with the ealry losses, year 2 showed improvement under his system.....year 3 will tell if WKU is a contender or pretender going forward

Booing ShiftyEagle faking righteous indignation while lying on the field as instructed by a fan base stuck in past glories. Nothing but a red herring. Go prove it on the field. Dang, if my team had been a collective 5-31 the past 3 years and I can now watch my team play Washington in the Cotton Bowl Stadium, I would sure be a lot less hateful and more enthused about the prospects for the future of my team. Jeez...

In your head all of this WKU chest thumping? We are not allowed to be proud of our accomplishments so far this season?
We were told as soon as we were Picked Number 1 preseason how our defense was too horrible to win, Doughty is too old, haha, etc etc....Then week leading up to CUSA championship game it was this is 2011 again and we were Houston, lol...That was a real treat being compared to a Houston team most WKU fans have no clue about or have anything to do with our team this season, 2015....WKU fans have been relatively quiet as of late like most of this board has been...
The crickets you are hear are mostly from Marshall and Southern MIss fans...La. Tech fans quieted down a while ago....
