RE: Watts Interview Tonight
They said in the interview that student enrollment was up to 18,000. But I thought the undergraduate side took a hit.
So which one is correct

Some of the things quoted in the article attached to the video above, seem to show he still doesn't get it & has the arrogance still that he knows best & nothing wrong w/ the decision to kill & he should be commended/forgiven for reversing it.

Arrogance. Man still sees it as he did nothing wrong. Maybe he apologized to Clark in private and feels he owes no one else an explanation or apology.

Still repeating a lot of the same lies. In watching the videos, you can see when he gets going talking about all the different research how intelligent he is from a medical perspective. He seems like he would be well suited to be in a medical only leadership role (clinical/research/hospital management, not Med School Dean) as opposed to a President of a comprehensive University where he is in over his head.

Was it just me or did he get really flushed when he started talking about #FRW and the mistake of shutting it down?

Wish she had been tougher on him about the votes of "no confidince" and how the same people who ended up saving the program were trying their best to talk with him about what was needed before he made his decision...since he kept saying there was no support until after the program was disbanded.

They are trying to repair his image. That's how you know the decision came from the top...BOT. Otherwise he would have been fired back in March. This is a image job to smooth over the mistakes that were made by him and the BOT power brokers. I wish he would just retire or say I'm truly sorry for the negative impact my decision caused the UAB students, alumni, fans, and coaches.

RE: Watts Interview Tonight
1st question that should have been asked - What did you do to deserve an $850,000 a year salary when the previous president only made $350,000 a year?

I'm pretty sure Garrison made more than 350. I thought closer to $550k-$600k.

$487,000 in 2011. I may have gotten mixed up on the starting salary figure instead (although I haven't verified what the starting salary may have been)

She was definitely making $500k at the time she left, and of course for over a year after she left.

in 2006 the base salary was raised to the $487,000 amount with a raise of $85,000 if they stayed on their job through the end of the fiscal year.

RE: Watts Interview Tonight
About the interview - Biting my tongue.

Now

Let's not let this interview or his comments distract us from the task at hand. We still have a lot of money to raise for facilities. We also need butts in the seats at basketball games and to sell C-USA Tournament tickets. let's buckle down and put our money where our mouths are. Many of us have already stretched our budgets thin but I am asking everyone again to dig deep and let's support basketball and be ready when we call on you for more facility money help. Clark and Haase have grand visions and we need to make them happen.
