Honestly, I'd be comfortable if Bowen left right now. He got the Norvell hire done and did a fine job there, so if he's itching to move up the timing is now.

Get someone else in to spearhead the facilities project and deal with basketball this offseason.

in fairness, all GP said was that yesterday morning he got a call from someone connected to Illinois asking GP what he knew about Bowen and what his thoughts were. GP googled the Illini search and Bowens name wasnt mentioned anywhere, but that their search is all over the place and it may be falling to Bowen.

Yep. He's done a very good job of cleaning up RC's mess and getting football on the right track. I'm not sure that he's all that good in the PR, public speaking, fundraising areas.

I really hope this guy isn't going to leave. It was so nice during the coaching search to just trust the AD's office for a change.

According to his Facebook and twitter yes.

If Bowen doesn't fire Pastner after this year the venom will flow from the dufuses (dufusi?) and they will start on him. Actually, judging from some comments they are already loading up.

It's not entirely Bowen's call.

If he can find the money for another salary, I don't know why it wouldn't be. The commitments on the board right now are just that -- commitments. Somebody signed off on them, and they're committed till 2020 . . . unless we have more employees someone else wants than we know about . . . nah, forget it. They're committed till 2020.

To tell you the truth, I attribute our current success more to Rudd / Martin / Fuente than to Bowen. I could be wrong, but that's just the sense I get.
