A 17/18 year old kid isn't mature enough to go away from home and hold himself responsible?!?!?!?!?!?1?!

I didn't think it was possible for anything to get in the way of football at FSU, especially academics. They had kids graduating there that couldn't read at anywhere close to a HS level.... Makes you wonder what kind of joke "school" that JUCO was when he can sign early.

I think it's a good idea to recruit some JC transfers to fill immediate needs. Too many and a numbers problem will crop up but don't think that is what's happening at USM. Great skill players you guys are getting. Kansas St does a good job recruiting JC players and keeping their scholarship numbers in sync.

Not really jealous.. We are very proud of our student athletes, and with the exception of this year, have been beating you!

Or here is a thought, maybe he had someone put a foot up his ass or got his head on straight and decided to turn his life/career around?

He was enrolled his freshman year at FSU and played in a few games. Sounds to me like he did a little too much partying and not studying. Seems like he learned his lesson after he went the JUCO route.

And we are proud of ours also, especially those who decide to turn their lives around.

Without going back through the pages of this thread so if it's been said already then oh well...........I don't mind the number of JUCOs we sign as not all of them are strictly "2 year" players for us. We've had several who've come in that have had 3 years of eligibility while others redshirt their first year here which helps keep the balance of eligibility at a somewhat even rate so that we don't have 30+ seniors one while while have less than 10 the next.

This.

While we have some players that are 1 year transfers (often to fill an immediate need. Swain, Bolton, etc), most of our transfers are 2 or 3 year guys. It's all a numbers game and Monken is great at it.

When a player goes from FSU type facilities and the movie star treatment that you get at that type of school to the JUCO world it is a real eye opener.
It probably is a real incentive for these kids to "get it together" in order to get back to an FBS school.
