Wisconsin's Bo Ryan Retired
It's official. Wisconsin's long time coach Bo Ryan retired last night.

Just the news of this takes me back to a memory in 2006, sitting on a friend's couch in an off campus apartment listening to the radio broadcast of the Seahawks battling the Badgers up in Wisconsin.

Guy was a helluva coach and will be missed by NCAA basketball for sure.

I can't find the exact quote I remember reading after the game, where Bo Ryan said that the Seahawks "move their feet better than anyone in the country", or something like that. A write-up from that game from Wisconsin's site: http://www.uwbadgers.com/news/2005/12/12...ath=mbball

Quote:Wisconsin Head Coach Bo Ryan

On the last couple of minutes: 'We went with small screens in the first half, it's just another way that if we need to make a play off that or get into what's next and get some spacing and some separation or maybe a gap or two. We knew each basket was going to be a battle. It played out exactly the way, after we watched them play, that we said pretty much would and said it was going to boil down to us being able to get to the free throw line as teams do against aggressive teams. Finally we got to the free throw line by making the harder cuts and getting in better position. A part of it was opening up at the top of our offense for a little ball screen action. That 's all it was, a big for a little.'

On UNCW's defense:

'Yeah it was the same that we played on them. Keep the ball out of the post, don't get a lot in the paint and make it tough to hit shots. Therefore you have low shooting percentages, not a lot of free throws. People watching the game trying to figure out what the heck is going on.'

I coach 11 & 12 year olds, tell me about it! Generally i can get the less skilled kids to take ownership of D, but the more hoops skilled kids don't want to play D at all.

While your point is a good one, I think he meant that it is difficult to get kids to sit around a radio, lol.
