Alex Alvarado at Hustlebelt has a write-up on Thompson's season thus far.

RE: "EMU's Thompson, the early FOY favorite"
I'm thinking that come mid-March he and Nathan Boothe will be two leading candidates for POY.

UT is a 2-player team, with Jonathan Williams being the other...

Based on what I've seen so far this year (JT4 is averaging a double-double, leads the MAC in rebounding, FG % and blocked shots) he could be the player of the year with his toughest competition being Nathan Boothe (who is having an excellent year).

Any center who leads a conference in rebounding, blocked shots and FG %, even if he doesn't scored 17 - 20 ppg is still the man to beat for POY.

I just hope the NBA will let him play even three years at EMU.

I can see him being a NBA prospect after next season. If he stays three years, he is a first rounder.

Too bad nobody outside of true EMU and MAC fans know about him. The average EMU Wolverine is in the dark.

Nickle, that will change somewhat during the conference season. He'll get his press across the Midwest.

EMU has to make 'noise' in the MAC tourney for his reputation to go national.

He needs to lay waste to the MAC competition.
