Copied from YOGWF:

I guess it is not a bad thing for the commissioner to not insist the LB taking a CUSA representative, it is only the conference's biggest bowl payday. A very wishy-washy response, if you ask me.

Personally, I think the Memphis AD makes the best point. If the SEC won't play us, why not the Big Ten, Big XII or other majors? Maybe he should run for CUSA commissioner, if it ever becomes vacant, of course.

Personally, Soph, the guy just is not aggressive enough of a commish for a conference like CUSA. Squeaky wheels get the grease (cash).

Now I ask, how is the commishioner to demand anything of the Liberty Bowl? The City of Memphis can demand. But from what position of strenght can the commissioner of CUSA demand anything? The squeaky wheel sometimes get the grease. And sometimes it gets replaced with a less annoying one.

He can't demand much, because we need them as opposed to the other way around. But, he could try to apply pressure in the media, by commenting on what should be done based on our conference's history of success with them, the additions of Marshall and UTEP (who both travel VERY well for bowls), the fact that our top team is almost always ranked top 15 at the end of the season, and that it is against the spirit of the new BCS agreement between all 11 conferences for the SEC to take the stance it is taking. He could do those things, and make it that much more difficult for the LB and the SEC to try and screw us quietly and behind closed doors, they'd have to do it under the spotlight of the media, and answer all of those questions.
