TD ILSU, 32-21 with 6:39 left. RU ball.

Previous ILSU drive RU was up 25-14. ILSU drove then threw pick at the RU goal line. Then RU drove for TD. That was probably the ball game.

Richmond has the run/pass balance to win it all. And their D leads the nation in TO's.

Recipe for success. Wonder if Withers is taking notes, or prepping for his big interview tomorrow.

Yep. For a playoff run Big Sky style of play (high powered, finesse offense, no defense) isn't going to cut it. You need to be able to do 2 things.
1. In that cold Dec weather you see in the qtrs & semis (at least in the mid atlantic, northeast & midwest) you need to be able to do more than just play shotgun hurry up finesse. You need to be able to play smashmouth, and burn clock if needed. And that what UR did. Ex that last series they took their time, got under center, 2 tightend and ran right at ILSU. ILSU knew they were going to run it and couldn't stop them.
2. You need to be able to play defense, esp against the run. ILSU came into the game avg 247 yds rushing. RU held them to 78.

Richmond looked solid tonight and, sadly, JMU football is the last thing on Withers' mind.

RE: #7 RU @ #2 ILSU
JSU 58, CSU 38 final. Couple of CSU's TDs were set up by 60 some and 80 some yard kick returns..Otherwise JSU pretty much dominated..JSU rushed for over 500 yds.04-jawdrop Probably would have gone for 600 vs JMU...

Their stadium lists capacity at 24k. Announced for tonight was 22,797..Looked good on TV..

I've seen them play twice this year. Versus Auburn (lost in OT, should have won) and tonight. They look like a legit #1 seed...

Read where someone said JSU becomes the 1st OVC team since EKU in 1991 to make the semis, and every d line starter for them is an SEC transfer..

Their 2nd year coach is 22-3.
-The 3 losses to Michigan State last yr, SHSU last yr playoffs, Auburn (OT).
-His record vs playoff teams (regular season & playoffs) is 6-1 (2-1 last yr, 4-0 this yr).
Can't imagine he'd be there too much longer...

Agree, and now with this opportunity, I'm not sure we'll ever get his mind back into JMU should he not get this ECU position. There is just too big of a difference in compensation. In addition, what good recruit would want to come knowing the HC is wanting out? It's best for JMU that he get this deal.
