2016 Football Depth
I have had the feeling that Velasquez's career was less than it could have been. He had a couple of duds, but that said, this guy was a talent that went underutilized. Injuries were key. It wouldn't surprise my one bit if he got a free agent look.

RE: 2016 Football Depth
I think your post is spot on. His improvement from last year to this year was obvious. Remove the Richmond games and we wouldn't be having this debate.

I'd take more of the complaints about Cluley seriously if they were made throughout the year. No one was crapping on him after his games against JMU or Towson.

I can't remember the time frame, but it was something like a 6 game stretch. During the games against Richmond Steve was under a ton of pressure all day long. That has something to do with the performance. Steve is an acurate passer, he makes great decisions, and he is durable (thus reliable to be on the field).
He should be QB1 (movie reference). The battle should be for QB2. McKee, Mosley, Battle and possibly this Hughes kid if he signs and ends up on campus. That competition will pay dividends for 2017 and 2016 in relief if needed.
Post about "team" is spot on. With the losses to graduation, the defense next year will look different. Need the coaches to mold the group together. Watching NDSU play defense is a joy, they really play as a team, run to the ball, play the gaps, and tackle well. Not much said about individuals there, but much about the "defense".

You don't hear a lot about NDSU guys getting drafted or playing in the NFL. Definitely a case where the sum is greater than the parts.

RE: 2016 Football Depth
There are several Bison players in the NFL and their current QB is excepted to go in rd 3. But, you're correct, we don't hear much about them and they probably don't have many more players than us playing in the League.

According to ESPN NDSU has 7 players in the NFL. W&M has 6.

And how many national titles has W&M had in that period?

Totally unrelated, but I'm curious which fcs school has produced the most pros over the last decade or so?

NDSU has more talent and has won more titles. Not hard to understand.

RE: 2016 Football Depth
NDSU has only been D-I for about 10 years so that may be a reason why you don't hear of a history of them having NFL players (even if they have 7 now). Would imagine that number will continue to grow.
