Decent lineup other than Temple. 4 "p5" opponents and MWC and CUSA champs.

Sorry Temple.

Temple got the better bowl trip for the players, and fans. Come on we are talking DEC in South Fla.

Hopefully we will grab a couple of slightly better bowls next go round. I don't see any big improvements, Bowls will still rather a P5 6-7 over a #1 AAC.

UofMstateU ttech and WVU would have just switched... the big 12 wasnt giving up the liberty if they werent forced too

(which is what everyone was projecting pre kstate eligibility), i never saw a Memphis projection

ESPN bowl projection:
Liberty Bowl in Memphis
Saturday, Jan. 2, 3:20 p.m.
Schlabach: Texas Tech vs. LSU
McMurphy: Texas Tech vs. Georgia

secondly the liberty bowl is contracted to our champion if it becomes available, and second place if our champion is in the Access..memphis is technically #4

ill just let you believe what you want, but will say i have hard time believing the liberty would unnecessarily spurn the big 12 (who it was even lucky to be in partnership with) when it didnt need to and then skipped the AAC protocol, which im not even sure they are contractually allowed

RE: Official AAC bowl line up
I agree that Temple got the bad draw as far as opponents. I have been a Temple fan this season & they definitely deserved better. Tulsa got the opponent that Temple should've drawn. However, the bowl system is too convoluted to make good sense. Tulsa playing the day after Christmas in Shreveport is pure geography.

As far as location & date of bowl, Temple wins. Playing in Boca on the 22nd is a much better reward for the players than Shreveport the day after Christmas. I've already been to one Indy bowl with temps in the 20s & icy drizzle.

Good luck to all AAC teams in their bowl games!

You know why the Liberty didnt have to take Texas tech? Because the SEC team the Liberty Bowl was going to get was ARKANSAS. Guess who Arkansas played this year in the regular season? Texas Tech. So the Liberty Bowl could deny Texas Tech, and WVU since they played the year before, AND any 5-7 B12 team.

Clear as mud now?

Second, the AAC MUST give the champion (or the 2nd place team if the champion is in the access) to the Liberty if the Liberty wants them. The Liberty is free however, to choose whoever the hell they want from the AAC. If the Liberty wants to drop down, they will.

Well, our bowls suck, but they are light years ahead of the other G4 conferences.

Tulsa has played in the Independence twice and took good crowds both times. I'm sure the bowl organizers recognize that.

It would be much easier to just say congratulations and good luck instead of constantly complaining. Putting "no offense" in each of your posts just shows that you're trying to be offensive.

1) he not she

2) i clearly explained earlier "id be upset if it was the other way around...when Tulsa turns their ship around, and lets say they won 10 games on a year beating Oklahoma first time in a while, ranked most the season ...i wouldnt want them to get Toledo with while a 6-6 temple got Arkansas"

3) the indy bowl had last choice of the bowls (technically second to last, but last for available teams)....they even had offered mizzou literally a week ago to avoid taking our last team, why mizzou released a statement declining a bowl as a 5-7 team

like i noted earlier it was not the fault of aac, or tulsa, or temple, the match-up was likely just luck, but i wished the stars aligned that temple could have gotten it...

So looking at my above post, for this being the off cycle crappy bowl year for the AAC that people wanted to puke about the beginning of the season.........well HOT DAMN........ NOT BAD!!!!

Another thing to look at........ even when taking into account the off cycle bad bowl year for the AAC........ this really shows and amplifies the true tweener conference standing. Pac 12 and ACC only had one less G5 opponent each.

Look at the other G5 conferences........WOW

not sure what your statement means,

ill fix it to what i actually meant

"so, you say its not about proximity, but that it was about the luck that tulsa was available for a bowl being our last bowl team a bowl not part of our main bowl lineup and that bowl was also an atlarge bowl who luckily to picked up an ACC team instead of the 6-6 sunbelt team many were projecting"

Back up bowl agreement with independence meaning a primary bowl partner had to agree to give up their spot with the AAC and with the limited amount of at-large teams available this year the cure bowl was probably the only one that would agree to do it. They probably figured there would be very little difference in terms of fans support for the game between Tulsa and San Jose State . Boca Raton wasn't going to give up the Temple Toledo match up between the two teams that just missed the access bowl.

The bowl wants to sell some tickets. They are far more likely to prefer a school within driving distance, especially when that school has sold a lot of tickets for prior appearances, than one from halfway across the country for a 12/26 game.

Temple/Va Tech would would have played before an empty stadium.

So you're telling me the St Pete organizers thought UCONN fans would show up in Florida the day after XMas at 11 AM? Doubtful....

This. AAC probably got the best it could this year.
