If Q'ira is working with Darth M, perhaps she is force-sensitive in some way?

As far as Han cheating on Leia:
1. He's an admitted "scoundrel"
2. he has a past that's darker than ended up in SW IV_New Hope (see below clip with deleted scenes--Han is clearly hanging out with some babes in Cantina scoring some action, as fits his character at that time. So, he can't 'relapse?"
3. Han definitely has a thing for Q'ira that is not so easy for him to just forget.
4. If not the above, then what, it's cool he leaves Leia and returns to villainy for the heck of it instead of being honored (and presumably paid) as "General Solo"? (Maybe he didn't like the benefits package?)

Yeah but thats his past, he and Leia don’t get separated until Ben goes off the deep end.

I'm not sure...we don't really know what happened or in what sequence they fell apart. It could have been one thing, or a combination. It could have set Ben/Kylo off. That's an angle that wasn't effectively explored in the way Ep.8:TLJ turned out, but they can repair it. Certainly explains Kylo's dislike of his dad and the resulting patricide. then it's a bit more understandable.

I mean, why would Han just up and leave the rebellion. We'll find out more-but as Lando's nowhere to be seen in Eps 7 and 8, what happened to them?

RE: OT: Star Wars Thread [Warning: Spoilers]
Had to post this one here...Rice U last year changed its logos jettisoning some of the old logos it had been using in various capacities for a while. I wondered what happened to some of our older logos, and I came up with this image for a school on "Naboo":

...an even older logo (it was a long time ago, after all) is this logo used by the Naboo Owls, who had a promising young player named Anakin, who could do some amazing things on the field with his force-ful abilities...but alas, he abandoned his studies of sand in order to go to a very private dark side school under the tutelage of an emperor:

I may be in the same boat. I didn’t hate TLJ, Im just in no hurry to see it again. I liked Solo more, its a fun movie. Deleted scenes look fun as well. You can tell they had a good time making the movie, wish people had gone to see it in theaters.

Pretty sure you'd like most of Solo. I agree Rogue One is a great movie, and a cut above the tow other Disney Star Wars movies.

Here's another interesting article that fills out a bit more of where some of the ideas in the Han Solo origin story came from: The 'Legendary' roots of Solo: A Star Wars Story. The only non main saga SW book I've read was one they mentioned set on Mimban, that swampy, muddy Dagobah-like planet: Splinter of the Mind's Eye, by Alan Dean Foster.

Topics the article covers:
1. CARIDA AND HAN'S IMPERIAL SERVICE
2. THE SPICE MINES OF KESSEL AND THE KESSEL RUN
3. MIMBAN
4. SABACC

Trying to cash in on the success of the Orville, no doubt. The Orville is surprisingly good Sci-fi and very funny. Be tough to beat it.

So, picked up the Solo DVD a few weeks ago and watched it again. It's a d@mn good flick. Certainly didn't deserve the "snub" reputation.

Star Wars: Episode IX Leak Reveals New Details About Kylo Ren’s Deteriorating Mental State

Not mentioned in the brief article above, but I did earlier see a theory that General Hux would be set to oppose Kylo Ren, even cooperating with the Resistance remains to help them against Ren.

I just don't see Ren as anywhere near as interesting a baddie as Vader and the Emperor were. I think they made a big mistake not keeping Snoke around and exploring his character more. I wish we'd seen the last of the rather ridiculous "Captain Phasma," but I'm afraid we'll be made to sit through more of that.

I guess if they bring Lando back it will help take some of the sting of the last film away, and since Daniel Glover did a great job playing a young Lando in Solo, I would look forward to Billy Dee as long as they move away from the uber-feminist PC stuff of TLJ and re-balance the movie's protagonists to make some sense. Will Poe actually become relevant and a leader in this final chapter of this trilogy?

Theres no choice. They needed more Poe time in TFA, imo.
At this point his next step is being a better leader. That seems to be the arc they are pushing in TLJ and it must continue. He’s like a son for Leia at this point and she’s trying to make him a better leader. So I think him being more of a leader up next is the way forward with him

Kinda wish they'd start Episode IX by saying it was a dream (a la Dallas and "Bobby") and redo the story so it makes sense according to traditional SW lore and not a radicalized agenda. Then they could do IX and add a Episode X to tie things up...everybody wins: TLJ stays an official SW film, but relegated to "what if?" status as a dream sequence, Don't kill Snoke off but keep him as the bad heavy, instead of Kylo, who's just not up to the task, make Luke act more Luke-like instead of throwing away his entire history, send Leia off in a more sensible way (they could just have her die in space instead of "unfreezing' and so use the footage from TLJ in a way that6 actually made sense, fans returned, they would get a bonus SW Skywalker saga film and the additional revenue from it.

RE: OT: Star Wars Thread [Warning: Spoilers]
(02-16-2019 08:30 PM)Side Show Joe Wrote:  J. J. Abrams has wrapped up filming for hopefully the last of these films. The article states Abrams took over after director Colin Trevorrow backed out of the film due to creative differences with Lucasfilm. I will not go see the movie since episode 8 has made it impossible to salvage the current series. Here is the article...

https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/st...of-filming

Well, it wouldn't be perfect, but they could rescue much of the franchise back by pulling a Dallas "Bobby's death was merely Pam's dream."

Bad Dreams: When Bobby Ewing Returned to Dallas

Imagine, Episode IX opening with Luke Skywalker asleep on his hill, and Rey comes in and wakes him up for her next Jedi lesson. Cut to Leia being blown away in space and staying dead. Pick up Episode IX from there.

Sure, some damage to Luke's character, but then he recovers from the B.S. Rian Johnson version of Luke and returns to be the the Luke we all know and love from all the earlier episodes. Luke then trains Poe to be the Rebel leader; Poe falls in love with Rey, and they become the new SW "it" couple; Finn and Rose drop out like he wanted to in TFA, and go off to some planet to chill out together; Rey meets Obi-wan who tells her she's really Ben Solo's sister; General Hux gets caught oogling old pre-chrome suit Phasma pics and Snoke banishes him from the First Order; Snoke and Rey fight, but Ben Solo aka Kylo Ren saves her by cutting off Snoke's hand and they escape...leaving Snoke to prepare for a final assault on the Resistance...in Episode X (see, Dizknee, there is profit in fixing the mess of Episoode 8). So Episode IX becomes a redo of Episode 8, done the right way. Hey, something like that would make me enthusiastic again.

RE: OT: Star Wars Thread [Warning: Spoilers]
well...here's the first teaser trailer for Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker

Looks good so far, but there's such a long way to go, don't know if I have any new hope yet (get it?!. The proof of the pudding will be how they rescue the story back from the complete and utter disaster of Rian Johnson's Last Jedi--still haven't bothered to see that one again, much less pay money to buy it, though I did recently re-watch the Prequels, I-III, then Solo, (excellent) then Rogue One, then IV-VI and VII. I gotta tell you, the prequels are growing on me as decent movies, because now we have something in the Star Wars universe so much worse to compare them to (Last Jedi). I still don't care for Jar-Jar and Anakin's sand mumblings, but they are watchable, and the highs outweigh the lows in those movies. Maybe it would have been better if Jonson's mother had known how to spell Ryan correctly, he wouldn't have been so clueless.

Here's a take on the new trailer by some folks who might be more into Star Wars than you or me...
